I'm the same as many of the others; I avoided a meeting like the plague. But, after my first one I realized they aren't going to "call you out" and embarrass you. Quite the opposite - they'll let you just sit there if you don't want to talk. You can just say your first name and what brought you there as an intro and then participate only as you feel comfortable. After you attend one, you'll see it's nothing to be scared of. Good luck!
