Hi -

I can't figure out how to attend the online meetings. I used this link

www.therecoverygroup.org/meetings/index.html

and then clicked on Doorway To Our Meetings

another screen comes up - on the left it says Click to See Channels - when I click it expands with a list. I clicked on recovery but nothing happens.

I'm wondering if it could be my computer security settings? I desperate to figure this out!

Do you have your pop up bocker activated? If so, you will need to turn it off before you can access the site.

thanks mermom - i tried that. I think it may have to do with Java chat (not that i know what that is!)

Hi there,

I had the same experience trying to access online meetings. I would love to have the option, because I can only get one OA meeting per week.

I’m not very good at computer settings outside my usual stuff. In the end, I gave up trying, and focussed on writing here instead – although I would love to do both. Please post here if you figure it out – I’ll do the same.

Here are the instructions I just received from the site. I'll try it tonight when I get to my home computer, so I'm not sure if it works:

To get to the room go to www.therecoverygroup.org and
enter through the Newcomer Doorway. The room is
#TRGNewcomers.

Also below is a fix for Java, if you have tired to get
into the meeting and cannot connect follow the
instruction below.

Fix for the 6.0 java upgrade: Close all web pages
first. Then go to
Start, settings, then Control Panel
Double click on Java .. choose the General tab
Under Temporary Internet Files Click on Settings
Uncheck the box at the very top left of that window
that says “Keep
Temporary Files on My Computer”
Hit Apply then Click on OK.
Javachat should work as before now.

I finally got into the online oa meetings! I had to download Java (it's free - I just googled java and it brought me to their site) and also de-activate my pop-up blocker, just as mermom said.

Thanks so much for your ‘research wisdom’! Actually, when I posted you on Sunday, I had not read your last post where you share about downloading Java. No wonder I keep coming up with dead-ends!

If I’m successful, I might get to say hi at a meeting or something.

Searsha - you're welcome. I attended on-line meetings the last 5 days and I really feel it is helping. I also joined a Newcomers Loop and will be getting a sponsor soon. I'm very grateful to this board for pointing me in the right direction!
