For years I had an article saved on my PC about how water helps with fat loss but lost it when my PC crashed.

Basically, it said that the liver processes fat and the kidneys rid the body of toxins. If the kidneys aren't getting enough water for this, the liver has to help out, in which case it cannot do as good a job of processing the fat. It sounds plausible and I know that when I am drinking more water I seem to lose faster. Unfortunately, I also spend more time in the bathroom. Here's another article that basically says the same thing.

http://www.coachcalorie.com/drinking...t-to-fat-loss/

Too much water can be bad for you, but I don't think any of us is drinking too much.

Interestingly, I heard that bariatric surgery patients are told not to drink while eating, as it helps to move the food through the pouch faster and allows you to eat more. I wonder if that is also true with non bariatric patients. I don't usually drink anything at meal times at home but always get water when eating out.

According to the .5 oz per lb of body weight, I should be drinking between 5-6 bottles of water per day. I really don't think I could do that. I average 3, sometimes more, but if I did 5-6 I wouldn't be able to leave the house! LOL

Today I went shopping for my ground meat for hamburgers. I will probably make 3 hamburgers, two for DH and one for me. DH, who doesn't like to eat ground meat that has been frozen, made me buy 2 big pkgs saying that I could freeze the extra. Whatever. We will also cook a few hot dogs, I will cook a brat for me, and I will make potato salad and open a can of Bush's baked beans. A typical American Fourth of July cookout.

I also bought some cream cheese that was on sale and am making a cheese cake. I will probably eat some, as tomorrow is scheduled to be Carb Day for me so I can celebrate without feeling too guilty.

So far I had

B 2 eggs and 2 sausage patties

Carol Sue, thank you for that article. And I know exactly what you mean; if I were still teaching, there is NO WAY I'd be able to drink as much water as I do now! Oh! And on that note, DH fixed the downstairs bathroom this morning!

Your 4th of July menu sounds like mine in that we are having simple "All-American" foods. DH will be grilling hamburgers, hotdogs, and brats with all the fixin's. Plus we are having potato salad, corn salad, coleslaw, baked beans, chips and dip, watermelon, and cupcakes. My children and their families will be here, along with my husband's family (my family lives in TN and NC). Good thing it's Carb Day tomorrow!

Happy Carb Day, ummmm, Independence Day! I'll be eating All-American too. The plan is to skip the ice cream that I'm bringing, just have the berries.

Whew, finally a decent night's sleep! I feel human again. I added 2 pears and 2 doses of L-tryptophan that I had laying around. Weight is going in the right direction too, though it's up from last pre-Carb Day. I'll take it, as it's ~2 lbs down from a month ago and it's stable, with no white-knuckling deprivation.

Well, I'm back on the water bandwagon. Interesting info re role of liver and kidney, thanks Carol Sue. I feel sometimes like my life progresses from pit stop to pit stop Jacqui, my mom was a teacher too. She didn't trust that the faculty restroom was clean enough. She would make a beeline for the bathroom every afternoon when she got home.

Looking forward to hearing chickadeee's

Enjoy your day, everyone!

Mars, I have reached the age when I can't be far from a restroom. I'm not quite ready for Depends, but I can see them in my shopping cart in the future! LOL When I feel the urge to pee, I have to do it RIGHT NOW!

One thing I don't understand. Why are the ladies in the Tena commercial always dancing? That cracks me up. I asked DH, if I ever have to wear those, will you take me dancing? LOL

I did well yesterday. We ended up at the casino again and I ate big, but all low carb. By the time we got home the cheese cake had chilled well and I got into that, right before bed. It was good, but too much sugar for me. I didn't sleep well and was up in the middle of the night feeling nauseated.
So today the cheese cake doesn't even interest me.

No one comes to our house for the 4th. Both of the kids are drinkers and if they come to our house, someone has to be designated driver. They would rather stay home and be able to drink. I guess I don't blame them. They all work full time and days off are the only time they can drink. I was young once too. Now, one drink and it's off to bed. LOL

Happy 4th everyone. Let's make it safe and enjoyable.

Yesterday, DH and I spent the day traveling and stopping at estate sales and rummage sales, it was a day, I love spending time with him. I picked up a Golds Gym Stepper (see attached), I have been looking at these over the years and now I got one almost brand new for a great price. I know a truck driver that used one of these everyday and he swore by it. We also picked up a vintage 1910 sewing machine (see attached) (we have a small home business that restores and custom paint vintage machines), it is really cool with the colored decals and everything. So the day was good, on the move all day long.

Yesterday -

B: Eggs, sausage, coffee, cloud bread toast
L: skipped regular lunch, too much traveling had unsweetened tea, water, strawberry almonds and honey peanuts (too many nuts but better than sugar fast treats)
D: Chicken Cesar salad, cheese sticks, coffee

It was a long day. Today yard work, house stuff, and then enjoy the day.

My DH was just talking with his cancer doctor about water consumption, so that seems to be the topic of the week. (we can drink too much water for our bodies).

yowza chickadee that's a really beautiful sewing machine! I would love to see some of your finished products if you care to post or have a website. Sounds like a really nice day with DH, and productive too. Does his oncologist recommend a certain amount? Does DH keep track of how much he drinks?

Nice find with the stepper! I never saw that before, but it looks perfect for the home. I've got a mind to get one. I have an upstairs condo and wonder if it would drive my neighbors nuts. Please do keep us posted!

I've had breakfast, lunch, and 7 glasses of water already, at 11am. I'll be eating again at BBQ around 130 so that will be a big snack, lol. At least I won't show up too hungry.

Mars: http://www.singer-featherweights-revived.com/

Thanks for asking, check it out. (the one I attached is one of my favorites)

And for the water, his doctor told him people are drinking too much water, and over working their organs and depleting their bodies of nutrients too fast. My DH was told to drink water when you are thirsty don't over drink water because someone told you that you need to drink a certain amount. So, now he drinks more water instead of diet soda and coffee, this seems to have helped him.

Well, I hand mowed 1/2 the yard, lots of walking and pushing, and then I weeded the garden and drank water in between, very hot and muggy here. Now celery and PB for a snack and have to think of something for lunch. Going to hang up my coocoo clock and a mini blind and them enjoy the rest of the day.

Steaks for dinner.

Wow those are amazing chickadeee! It's really wonderful to find something you are good at AND love to do AND share with your DH. The machines are beautiful--works of art, really, that reflect the labor of love.

My mom had a Singer and it weighed a ton. My sister & I would complain endlessly about threading the needle, and getting it to run. My widowed grandmother supported a family of 3 during the Depression by sewing in NYC garment district. She first sewed together 2 left sides on a load of bras and told me she flushed them down the toilet to keep from getting fired. When I knew her, she could sew any fabric into anything at all without a pattern.

So, chickadee when will you be taking quilt orders?

btw, you surely got in your cardio today--impressive! Thanks for the perspective about water. I have been getting up way too early to get it in n out before work starts. There's gotta be an easier way, short of Depends. Right, Carol Sue??? Well maybe the image of dancers will take hold and we won't even mind them! "bikini Depends" "French cut Depends"

Chickadeee, wow! Those sewing machines are gorgeous! So are the quilts! Just stunning! DH and I live in a historical house filled with antiques and we used to own an antique shop, so I really love and appreciate what you are your DH do!

Mars, I'm glad to hear that you are sleeping better! And I know how your Mom felt, lol!

Carol Sue, it's great having the family come to our house for the 4th, but it's kind of like Christmas without the presents, just the food! It's ridiculous how much I ate today!

Today was busy from the start, and I completely forgot to weigh in before I ate this morning, so by the time I stepped on the scale, I was up a lb. Trust me, when I step on the scale tomorrow, Onederland will be a memory! I'll definitely be well into the 200's again! And I already have a headache from all the sugar and quick carbs. Besides hamburgers, hotdogs and the usual 4th of July sides, we ended up with three kinds of cakes, a cherry-pineapple cool whip dessert, and s'mores over the firepit! Good thing it was Carb Day! But oh, I'll be paying for this one!

Week 9: High: 199.5; Low 198.5
6/28--199.5
6/29--199
6/30--199
7/1--198.5
7/2--198.5
7/3--198.5
7/4--199.5

Today's Meals:
Too much to list!

Today's exercise:
None, I was on my feet most of the day!

Jacqui It sounds like your treats were Carb Day-worthy! Even if you have some up pounds on the scale, you know that'll be water weight which doesn't really count. and will come right off

Btw I meant to ask if you noticed any difference since stopping the 5HTP? I bought a few amino acids, GABA & phenylalanine, to help with SAD & cravings in the winter. i didn't stick with them long enough to know if they work.

I enjoyed my Carb Day. I ate some things just for the sake of it but not the large amounts like last week. It was fun to eat corn, hamburger bun, potato salad, with no angst! And I avoided a food-induced coma! I did have a few spoonfuls of ice cream though, about 1/4C. I've been off sugar and really wasn't pining for it. I just didn't want to stand out by not having it. It wouldn't have mattered, I wasn't among food pushers, and I could have just said I was too full.
The ice cream was really good but not triggering. I don't regret having it, just that I had it for the wrong reason.

It's nice to look forward to post Carb Day and regular eating, like returning home from vacation, and the next vacation is just a week away

Mars, home from vacation, I love that! Great job on not going overboard yesterday! I wish I could say the same, lol! I don't know, I might have eaten 3500 calories yesterday, so maybe mine is not just water weight, but it will come back off, all in good time!
