I was just looking over the threads and saw an Easter Challenge. I was about to join it but I'm already in 2 challenges as you can see according to my signature ... since my birthday is in April I have decided as a present to me I want to be 10lbs lighter than I am today. That would bring me to 156.2. Oh my wouldn't that be a great present and victory and I think it is doable. 10lbs in 7 weeks ... a little over 1.4lbs a week
Where is our Momma Hen, Jacqui?! You are doing a great job in her absence Rennie! Thank goodness! I'm probably not the best guide in this slow carb diet approach. I am losing steadily, but I am not very good at being OP. I think, as Rennie has said, we all have modified versions for what works best for us individually, and what each can deal with. My personal philosophy is to try to eat low carbish/hi proteinish/as healthyish as I can most of the time, (80%), while allowing some better carbs like beans, whole grain/low carb bread products, and even occasional fruit (bought fresh pineapple and blueberries today-at least it wasn't donuts or bon bons!!) - but I don't eat too much, or else I will gain weight. I usually have cheat dinners maybe twice a week vs. a whole cheat day. So maybe a mash-up of diets. It seems to be working slow but steady, which is better than fast and miserable for me, which I did with IP. Feeling pretty good these days, and I know that if I fall off ( like having a night with insanely good chili and diet crystal light margaritas!), at least it's not a really bad cheat and easy to get back on the next day - because hey... you are allowed cheats on this diet! An awesome part of the diet but I try not to go too overboard. I think I would feel sick if I had a full, all out cheat day. (But maybe that's the point!)
So Rennie, your son didn't put the fried chicken in the blender? (Wasn't that your son who put the pizza in the blender?!) Still makes me laugh!!! Hilarious!!!

Sunlover12: Thanks for the welcome! And...good morning to all! We are buried in more snow here in the Cowboy State!!!! Yesterday was my first day on the modified slow carb diet. It went really well! Now I am feeling guilty because I am not suffering enough! LOL! I really think this diet controls my hunger better! Just had two eggs mixed with onions, peppers, low fat ham and tomatoes. Topped it off with a little cottage cheese. It was YUMMY! Just updated my stats. I used to come here when I was on Weight Watchers and my stats were outdated. I need to see about getting a ticker up there. Last night for supper I had a couple skinless/boneless chicken thighs and steamed broccoli and cauliflower. Then my hubby and I went to the local bar to meet some friends. I had two small glasses of red wine. I really prefer white wine, but went with the recommendation of the program and had cabernet sauvignon. I was able to sip it and make it last. So...things are going well so far. I am anxious to look for some recipes to make life a little more interesting. Will check out the recipes on this site. Do any of you have suggestions for websites that have great low carb recipes? Thanks for all the advice and support! I will check back often! Have a wonderful day!!! Oh...almost forgot...do those of you who allow cottage cheese use the full-fat version? Thanks!

Reason: Wanted to add something!
Hmmmm...can't seem to access the tickers. I clicked where it says "click here" and the page comes up "nothing to display". Am I missing something? Thanks!!
LOL Steph yes that was my son that blended the pizza, yuk I'm with you on the cheat days I don't think I can do a full cheat because for me it led to two and three cheat days. So when I want something sweet I just eat something sweet. That way I don't think about and focus on food (the wrong food) all day long Thanks for the birthday wish, I hope I can soon see the WOW in me maybe in the next decade I will
Schmoopy copy and paste this link http://www.3fatchicks.net/index11.php
It is what I had to use to change my ticker. I got it from another thread after doing a search. Your breakfast and dinner sound good I have bought cottage cheese but not sure if it was full fat or not.
New low today. Down .6 to 165.6 only .6 away from my low of 165 on 9/24/10. I am excited
Zucena is another one like our MOMMA HEN (Jacqui) that is good with answering questions.
Great 1st day schmoopy! We are also buried in snow, and woke up with -9 degree temps with -27 chill factor. Is supposed to be -20 by 9pm tonight and can't even imagine what the wind chill factor will be by then. I'm supposed to go to a benefit tonight but am going to try to get out of it. I got frost bite when living in the mountains in Germany and my extremities just cannot take the extreme cold. At least I don't have to work today so plan on just holing up all day in the warm house. Imagine you are experiencing similar weather schmoopy being our neighbor state to the South.
Are you a Pinhead? Pinterest has some excellent low carb recipes!
And I too indulge in a some red wine, although I truly prefer red over white.
Have a great OP day!

So Rennie, are you trying to lose 10lbs in a month, before April 1st? I think that's what you said. If so, I'll be a good Sister Chick and try to do it with you, but don't think I'll do the official organized challenge. Seems every time I do an official challenge, that's the kiss of death and I go off my diet. Must be the rebel in me! Also the reason I can't seem to stick with just one diet and do a mash-up of diets instead. Anyway, I'm with you Sister Chick!
Thanks Steph on my goodness the temperatures you two are enduring are unimaginable for me I hope you all feel some relief soon No, I'm not a pinhead but I am on lowcarbfriends and they have some really good Atkins induction recipes that I plan to try. I am finding that most recipes that say low carb are like 20-40 carbs and that is more than I'd like to consume in one meal if I can help it that's why I am worried about the beans. No I want to be 10lbs lighter by 4/14 so a month and 13 days (gives us some time) and yes I would love to have someone to do it with. I like your idea of a mash-up diet because it works. I think that is what I am doing. I had a cheat meal today. 2 cinnamon pancakes with low glycemic syrup that was lunch and a snack bag of sour cream and onion chips for snack, the rest of the day will be on point. I'm excited to have someone to do this with ... not a challenge at all just getting ready for spring LOL on the pleasantly plump chicks, I hope we get everyone in on it
Hey guys, I have friends visiting from out of town which is why I've been MIA lately. A brief update from me: on Thursday I stayed clean on the diet and also did an hour and a half HIIT and hike workout which left me sore (in a good way!) the next day. On Friday I successfully avoided many temptations until our dance party in the evening where we had surprise!birthday cake and I couldn't resist a piece of that. But I had a glass of red wine instead of my normal fruity cocktail so I'm okay with it especially since I danced for two hours. Friday morning my weight was 148.6 which I'm guessing is water but most importantly, today is CHEAT DAY!! So excited and I already had an amaaaazing breakfast So worth sticking to the diet during the week and I'm excited for the rest of my meals. Didn't weight myself today because of some car trouble but will stay on track tomorrow.
Schmoopy, welcome to the thread! From what I've read full fat cottage cheese is okay but you probably don't want to eat too much of it for maximum fat loss. There are a lot of slow carb recipes out there, just google "slow carb diet recipes" and theres a bunch of results that come up. Hope you stick around and join us!
I'm up for the 10 lb challenge! I'm hoping to get to 137 lb by the end of the month but I will be okay with 139 as well.
Zucena was it your birthday? Happy belated birthday ... 137-139 sounds like heaven to me I am so wanting to get this weight off and keep it off ... glad you're back and happy to have you join us for 10lbs to go BYE-BYE
