Thanks Rennie! I hope you feel better! The one good thing about TOM is that it usually comes with a drop in weight!

Gary, thanks! I'm pretty excited!

Thanks Dtretv! What a sweet thing to say! Good for you starting today! Eating a Carl's Jr. Burger without the bun and substituting a diet soda for a sugary one is a fantastic start! (IMO, the sauce won't hurt anything. I would have kept it too!) Great job! Just do the best you can do today. I know it's hard when you're away from home, but I am so proud of you for starting some slow carb yesterday and picking it up today!

Missy, don't be discouraged. You're doing great! You know, I've learned that even if you stick to a plan to the tee, you can still go up in water weight. It's just how our bodies work. Sometimes it holds onto water just to make things run more smoothly or to repair muscles, etc. It's a perfectly natural thing, and the good news is that water weight will always come back off! Just make sure you are drinking (but not over-drinking) enough water each day, because if your body doesn't think you are taking in enough, it will hold onto what it has. You definitely want it to release any extra water, so make sure you take in enough. And have a great time watching your Eagles play tonight!

Grabbed panda express for lunch. I am sure there is some types of sugars or marinades in the meats but I skipped the rice and chow mein and got veggies on the side. And i got the meats without breading. A great day so far in my opinion.

Dtretv, you are doing wonderfully! What a good choice for lunch!

You know I should have added Oriental food to my list of "meals out" foods. As long as you skip the rice and noodles, you're pretty much golden! I don't worry too much about sauces, but that's just me. I know that there's a lot of sodium in Oriental food so it's possible it could cause water retention, but that's just water, and it will fall back off!

Thanks also for the kind works Jacqui. I also feel good and that in itself is a good thing. My goal is to be down 3 pds by Thursday, and 2 pds per week after that.

Dtretv welcome by the way and good job today! So hard while traveling and eating out, but you are doing it! Tim Ferriss says that Mexican restaurants are great for the slow carb diet. They have beans and guacamole (allowed) and you just need to avoid the rice and tortillas and etc. Oh, I personally needed to remember to not add sour cream and cheese last night. Woooopsy

Jacqui I sure would love to have one more whoosh at the end of this bout with TOM

dtretv, that's what I did the last time I had a Panda Express type meal and I still couldn't eat it all. Thank goodness for kids when that happens, they finish all of the junk for ya You're definitely mentally ready, keep it going

Thank you! I love the support group here! I am going to have some Pozole tonight and I may or may not pick the Hominy out. The hominy contains about 24 grams of carbohydrates per cup. Although I am going to have some beers and brandy shots with my dad! And homemade pinto beans! Pozole with Hominy to me is still better than what I would usually eat! I would usually have Pozole, with a lot of tortillas or chips, which I am gladly going to skip! Plus I am not mixing my brandy with Sugary Soda! And I am opting into having light beer, maybe ;-) As a first day, I will say if it ends this way, I still count it a huge success, knowing what I could have been eating! I could've had a double burger with bun, large fries and sugary soda, panda express with fried rice, chow mein, egg roll and more sugary soda! Plus tortillas, rice, chips with my Pozole, and more sugary soda! Lol so it's a success for me! Success comes in small steps when you're first starting out I am believing. I know I am not by the book by any means, but today is definitely an exception, and instead of waiting until Monday to start, I am implementing changes even yesterday! Have a great day all! I hope you all are having some yummy slow carb foods, and enjoying your day and this journey!

dtretv, I say bravo to you. Like you said you could have been eating a whole lot worse and you have to start some where Again only my opinion

We stopped by the library and I got the book. My son has been reading it while in the car. It truly sparked his interest. He's 16, 6'1 and 242lbs. He wants to ton up, while I want to lose weight so he can read on and help he and I out

Did my 4 miles but it seemed harder than usual. Maybe TOM has something to do with it. They have these new treadmill machines that I tried for the last 15 minutes I think I like them better than the plain belt treadmill. My burn was 589 just like yesterday so I took the same amount of steps at the same speed.

Week 1 of 5
01 ~ 179.0
02 ~ 180.4 (+1.4)
03 ~ 177.4 (-3.0)
04 ~ 175.4 (-2.0)TTOM

my 4-hour body rules.
Rule #1: NO Grains, Added sugars, Dairy, Alcohol, Fruit, exception Tomato's.
Rule #2: Eating the same few meals over and over. Meals of protein, legumes, and vegetables.
Rule #3: Eating within 30-60 minutes of waking, and then every 3 hrs with at least 20g of protein per meal.
Rule #4: Drink at least 1/2 gallon of water per day
Rule #5 Enjoy a cheat day once a week NOT DURING THE MONTH OF JAN.

shooting for 1200 calories a day to run a deficit. the book say's 4000 cal in a pound of fat, over eat 4k gain a pound, under eat 4k loose a pound, seems simple logic, I believe following the rules above give me the best chance to feel full and satisfied to reach my weight loss goal's.

Rule #2, i have eaten chicken, broccoli, spinach, and fruit, over and over for several years, and on my cheat day i'm still cautious and careful and have kept off the 50-60 lbs i lost ( i love to eat and i know i can gain it back in a heat beat),

eating the same food's to me has an effect that they taste good and are satisfying , you forget how good a bag of Doritos's, peanut butter, ice cream, a chocolate chip cookie, a pizza you name it taste.

when you bite into an apple, grape, carrot, broccoli, nut..... sometimes they have great wonderful god created flavor. But sometimes no flavor or bad flavor.... when you rip open a bag of Doritos's it is going taste like something sent from heaven every time. then I have to wean myself off to make the cravings stop, (forget how good they are). that's why it best to limit avoid junk food 365

for me binge eating that crap before bed is my big down fall and why i have stuggled to get below 170 lbs, i get my body trained on a bad snack and i cant fight off the temptation, a tug of war inside my head....

Good morning, All! I gained only 1 lb on my cheat day yesterday! I'm pretty happy about that!

Week 25:
1/4: 171 Cheat Day
1/5: 172
1/6:
1/7:
1/8:
1/9:
1/10:

Today's Meals
Breakfast: 2 boiled eggs, a teapot of green tea, Mio water
Lunch: a chunk chicken lettuce wrap (I combined a can of chunk chicken with a bit of full-fat mayo and some red, yellow, and orange diced bell peppers, and wrapped it in layers of romaine lettuce), a handful of mixed pistachios, almonds, and peanuts, Mio water
Snack: pumpkin seeds, Mio water
Dinner: 2 Tyson Southern-Fried Chicken Tenders smothered in salsa, 1/3 can of black olives, a teapot of green tea, Mio water

Missy, those sound like reasonable goals! I hope you make them! And if a little water weight gets in the way (and it will at times), no worries because it will fall back off.

Rennie, Congrats on being another lb down! You'll be at that 171 you said would make you fall out before you know it! And yes TOM makes exercise so much harder, but good for you in getting it done! Your determination is inspiring! I think it's great that your son is interested in The Four-Hour Body. It's always good when someone so young takes an interest in their own health and, more importantly, in a healthy way!

dtretv, I couldn't agree with you more: Success comes in small steps when you're first starting out! They all add up to get you to where you want to be in the end! I think you're doing great!

Joe, now that things are getting back to normal for you, you'll have more control and be able to eat the way you had planned. So just put last week behind you because today is a brand new day!

Gary, you are doing so well! Your meals look great, your rules are right on, and your philosophy about eating slow carbs vs quick carbs is so true! Congrats on a steady drop on the scale! :

Hey Jacqui, Joe, Rennie, etc! I am actually pretty stoked about how last night ended. I was so tempted to drink my daughters Capri Sun and have some of the mexican sweet bread my dad had in the kitchen, but I got full off of a big bowl of Pozole with cabbage and radish and a bowl of beans. I had 4 bud light platinums and two brandy shots and actually felt good about it! I woke up today to board the train once again back home, had two sausage mcmuffins with egg, minus the english muffins! A large light lemonade for thirst, I am very happy with the way this day and a half went! And it is actually mentally comforting to say: "I may not be able to eat that today, but in a week I can have what I want!" I think that helps a lot in moving forward and sticking with this way of eating. Congratulations to everyone, whether you've gained or lost, because you haven't given up! Cheers, to trying to make today another successful day!
