The Glycemic Load Diet

I am new to this site and want to know if there is anyone out there trying the glycemic load diet. I have done low carbs before, but can't stick with them for any lenght of time I seem to go off the wagon and can't get back on. This diet seem easy. Just ellimenate starch. I can do that. I can have fruit and any veggie I want along with meat. I have always been a meat eater anyway.

My biggest challange is the exercise. I am 67 and have a bad hip. I walk but not as much as they recomend.

I hope to find others that are trying this also.

Have you tried this?

I don't know you'd be interested, but have you tried either aquasize or yoga? I've aquasized in the past and I loved it, it's very easy on the joints, and if you find a senior class, lots a great stories, just don't take their excersize spot! As far as yogo goes, my aunt has had surgeries on her feet, a hip replacement and a list of other problems all stemming from compensating from trying deal with her feet issues/pains. She 76 and does yoga everyday. Good luck, I hope you find something that'll work for you!

Debbi, I'm following the low glycemic load diet (Rob Thompson, M.D.). I'm 67 too and have bum knees. I had one of them replaced last year, and the other one needs to be replaced too, but since it's not giving me much trouble, I'm postponing it. I walk daily too, but I'd like to take longer walks. I'm sure if I lose some weight, I'll be able to.

I've decided on the glycemic load diet for the same reason you apparently have: I'll be able to stick to it long-term. I'd be happy to compare notes and share experiences.
