Thank you Filcha, it's early days for me but am enjoying it so far.
Sorry to hear your weight is not coming down at the moment, i'm just new to this as you know and will know so much more about it than me, but have you thought about changing food you normally eat, try more walking, just a thought, wishing you lots of luck and hope things pick up for you

Hi everyone,
I haven't posted for a few days but I'm sticking with the program and have had a good a deal of success, 4kg (8.8lb) in the first two weeks.
I'm feeling so much better now, I'm not lightheaded and even my taste buds are almost normal.
I've been experimenting with a few dishes and except for the carrot jam (total failure) they've all been turning out.
Of particular mention has to be the bread which took two atempts to perfect and tonights effort, cauliflower cheese.
The bread is a recipe that I found on-line and the cauliflower is a cup of steamed cauliflower covered with a cheesy sauce made from 1/2 cup of milk, 1/2 tablspoon cornflour stirred over hear until it thickens, add a slightly beaten egg and 1 tablespoon of ricotta. Mix well and add salt & pepper if desired and a touch of grated nutmeg.
Cook in a moderate oven until it browns on top, delicious!
The other essential piece of equipment that I bought this weekend is a non-stick frying pan. It is truly non-stick and needs no oil at all. The food cooks perfectly and comes out really brown and "fried" looking.
It wasn't cheap but well worth every cent, if you can I recommend everyone should get one and I've attached a photo of fishcakes that I "fried" in my new pan!
I'm really looking forward to all my frying and sauteing now.

Anna - Thanks so much for the encouragement. You are going really well! Congrats on 4 kg in two weeks - that is amazing!
Hmm, a new non-stick frypan. That sounds like a good idea. Can you tell me what brand you got as I have had some before and the coating doesn't seem to last long but I would like a good one. Your fish cakes look great!

Hi Filcha,
The one I bought is called Swiss Diamond, it's the saute pan which has high sides and a lid and I can use it for casseroles as well as stir frying.
It has a lifetime guarantee that the surface won't blister or peel and the pan will not warp.
Since getting it, I've used it 1/2 dozen times already and nothing has stuck. I tried making stir fry chicken in my old "non-stick" pan and all I got was a congealed mess on the bottom of the pan. With this one, it came out perfect. Also, most of the time I'm not even wiping it with any oil at all, it's unbelievable!
Anna
PS I don't work for the company or anything like that, I'm just in the same boat as everyone on this forum and thought I would share my discovery.

Hi Filcha,
I got it from a shop called Minimax but I think they're only in Melbourne.
They sell online but postage might be expensive
There's a great online store called Peters of Kensington and their prices are significantly lower than stores and I'm pretty sure they ship all over Australia.
All the best
Anna

Thanks Anna,
I'll look into it.
I'm having a good week this week - dipped below 70K for the first time in about 5 years. You are going great guns. It sounds as if you like to cook, which I think is a great asset with this diet. I'm a so-so cook - but have definitely been spending more time in the kitchen recently! I think that half the reason this diet works is that I am on my feet in the kitchen half the night!
BTW, half way is in my sights!
Cheers!

I was just thinking the same thing myself Filcha!
Anyway, I'll share this with you and whoever else is out there
Today was a very challenging day at work, we had food galore: Scones with jam and cream, party pies and sausage rolls and sandwiches and I'm so proud of myself, I managed to resist all of it and what was even more amazing, it wasn't hard at all to say no.
Down 5kg's already and around 7 to go
Anna

Well done Anna! You are flying through this. I am down 7.5, 9 to go.
Yes, I am amazed at how we seem to be able to resist temptation on this diet. I was always a complete failure at that before. I have a couple of weddings and a Hen's afternoon (at a cakeshop!) in the next few weeks. I expect we'll find something close to plan at the weddings but the Hen's at the cakeshop is going to be really tough....

I'm back! I'm still trying to recover from the flu, and I've been off the diet for a week. Doctor recommended doing so until I built my energy up. So I'm planing on straiting over with the attack phase and forcing myself to get the required exercise each day.
Congratulations to you all that have stayed with the diet and congrats on the weight loss!

Hi everyone. I haven't posted for a while but I've been sticking with it and as I approach the end of my fourth week I've managed to lose 6kg's so far. My clothes are actually feeling loose now and I'm feeling so much better. I'm walking between 30 to 45 mins per day and I'm not even puffed out anymore. I'll gradually work up to an hour.
Hmw i hope you're feeling better and have picked up where you left off
Finally I have to share the simplest most delicious recipe that I've tried so far - chicken mornay
Just make a white sauce with I cup of skimmed milk mixed with 1 tablespoon of cornflour. When it thickens add 1 tablespoon of ricotta and 1/2 tablespoon cream cheese. Mix with left over cooked chicken cut into small pieces add cracked pepper and nutmeg or any other spice and bake in moderate oven until brown on top. It took 5 minutes to prepare and was delicious!
That's all for now
Cheers, Anna
