OK, job fell through. So I keep chin up and keep showing up to the one I got. I'm lucky to have a job in this economy (or so I keep telling myself). So, no jobs on the hook for now.
Abluvion - way to go!
jilly- I'd test again in a couple days, just sayin'

Or the very next day...negative on the First Response yesterday, but positive on the Dollare Tree test today! Had blood drawn at my PCP's office and will have blood test results for confirmation tomorrow afternoon...

Jill waiting on dr report for official but a quiet little yay! for now ... You guys were planning on starting a family if I remember right..
Kel ... You have the perfect interview outfit now and keep your ears open - and just keep going to work and doing your job like you say it's a job - for some reason when you are working you hear about more job openings than you do if you aren't working - don't know why that is but I swear it's true.
I have two little yays today too .. The first one is that we were going to friends for dinner and I got into and comfortably wore a pair of jeans that wouldn't even meet to put them on a few months ago... And two- I did great at dinner.. The only carby thing I had was one taste of a piece of homemade lemon meringue pie (and it was a very small taste) that was all lemon no crust or meringue either. Other than that I had some cheese, salad, a deviled egg, a hamburger with onion in it and a few slices of tomato with red onion slivers on it. Hubby was supposed to give me a code if the corn was great and I would have one ear but he didn't say anything so I figured it was only so so and when we left he says oh the corn was great lol.

rho - saved by a forgetful husband? Mine would have done exactly the same. Who cares about corn anyway - you wore some skinny jeans!!!! Wowzers girl. I can't wait for that moment for me. I have two plastic tubs of fall clothes from last year I can't wear. Hoping they are just too big this fall and I'll have to buy all new....
Job's still a job. The girl who beat me out has started asking if I'm going to help her. Seriously. I'm not doing it for you, but yep, I'll help you. I'm just good like that - or something....

Still no word from doc's office...grr...
In the meantime, cheese is tasting VERY salty to me now. My favorite cheese that I have a bunch of and used to eat once or twice a day now takes me a long time to get through a single piece for breakfast.
But, I still eat the cheese, and I've found I'm basically able to do well during the day until dinner time strikes. Last night was "chicken critters" (amazingly moist and light chicken tenders) with honey mustard. Still good for protein and fat, but the sugar and carbs are obviously more than I should be consuming. We'll see how today goes...

Jilly! Gosh! How wonderful! I'm truly jealous, we've been trying and wishing for awhile. You lucky girl! When your diet begins to wane with the hormones I have a little piece of advice - keep it nutritious and nobody needs twinkies and ice cream for nutrition.

Still no blood test results, so not 100% positive yet, but I'm eating like I'm pregnant in that I'm making healthy choices - no Twinkies and ice cream for this girl! The carby "junk" I usually end up with is things like chicken fingers or cheeseburgers, so at least still some protein and fat and not just straight up sugar.
Actually I did pretty well yesterday. The only stray I had was that I ate the remaining two "chicken critters" with honey mustard that were leftover (and leftovers are new to me, too, but I just feel like I can't eat as much of everything right now without getting nauseous or disgusted - it's weird).
I've lost 3 pounds so far this week, but that's thanks to switching to better food choices with way fewer (if not few enough!) carbs and drinking more water. I've also successfully ditched Diet Pepsi, which I was drinking quite a bit of every day.
Here's how yesterday shaped up:
- cheese
- macadamia nuts
- grilled chicken tenders (why do more places not offer these?? no breading or batter - they were perfect!) with spicy garlic butter sauce dipped in ranch
- 2 leftover chicken critters with honey mustard
- Greek yogurt with fresh sliced strawberries and some cream cheese mixed in
I'm going to keep low-carbing as much as I can through my pregnancy (assuming I'm pregnant) - I've read accounts of others who did this and had much lower occurences of nausea, vomiting, edema, and other "typical" pregnancy side effects. Fingers crossed...

Jill fingers crossed for you...
The food snob has struck again - the corn isn't as great now so I'm done with that but the peaches are fantastic so I've had a half a peach yesterday and half today today what a treat..
Hit a new decade of numbers yesterday - I seriously get so excited with each new set I do a little happy dance - anyone else....

FINALLY - confirmed positive! Based on the number, I'm probably about 9 weeks along. I'm having a hrd time eating because nothing seems very appealing, but I know I NEED to eat, especially since I've been losing weight recently. Off to try to find something "tolerable" for breakfast...

GO JILLY! That's awesome. Keep us updated. I agree, keep it healthy. Those vital nutrients they push for in the whole grains - are added in to many, and were already present in other foods that I believe are healthier to eat. Eat for you and your baby. If you start to look for a broader place check out primal/paleo - it's still grain free, sugar free and still very natural, wholesome foods.
Rho - food snob looks good on you! I splurged yesterday on a single donut hole. They were fresh, there were bags of them around me at a meeting. I had been craving donuts for a couple days. I ate it in two bites and enjoyed it, then ignored them. HAHA skinny chick trick! I also had a little fish with cornmeal on it. But the rest of that meal was a salad - so mostly low carb.
I went last night with my BFF and another friend to supper. We had steaknshake. I ordered the Wisconsin buttery burger, no bun, side salad for fries. It was delish. I finished my burger while they ate brownie sundaes - and I was fine. My meal took longer to eat, so I just ate right thru my main course while they ate those sundaes. I didn't even want one. I see a skinny chick emerging in me....

Jill officially doing the BIG Happy Dance for you! CONGRATULATIONS!!!

Yay Kel .... You did great!
I was going to go to the Farmers Market in the village this morning but it is pouring... So I guess I'll go next week ... It's not like I can't go to most of the farm stands I would hit there but it is nice to get them all in one spot and support them coming to the FM too. The only thing I was really looking forward to was the local cheese ... Expensive so I only get a little but such a treat.
Hubby comes home this afternoon - I hope it isn't this yucky where he is in RI no fun shooting in rainy yuck -
I was going to BBQ some chicken legs and thigh quarters - guess I should go look for another recipe now...

rho, I think the rain is hitting most of us along the upper east coast. I'm just outside of DC, and we had rain this morning, too, and I think showers and even thundershowers expected for the rest of the day. Luckily, I didn't have any outdoor plans, but my parents will have to drive home in it - yuck.
Kel, you did awesome at the Steak n Shake! I've never been to one (we don't have them around here), but I hear they're delicious. It can be so hard to stick to your guns regarding diet when you're with a group, but every single time I do, I know it just makes me that much more confident for the next time
As for me, peanut butter seems to be my saving grace right now. Some foods don't sit well at all, some are iffy, some sit well sometimes and not others...but the peanut butter seems to sit consistently well. So, many snacks of Skippy Natural throughout the day!
Last night, we hit up a Brazilian steakhouse - where they bring all different meats around to your table and slice it off fresh. It was SO good - I had filet mignon, strip steak, some other cut of steak, turkey wrapped in bacon, a little bourbon chicken (light on the sauce), seafood (hmm, surimi) salad...so LOTS of protein and fat. And that seemed to sit fine, too!
I'm likely about 9 weeks along, and I believe 13 weeks is the end of the first trimester, so I'm hoping the appetite/nauseau and whatnot even out a bit in trimest #2, so only a few more weeks of battling so much with food.

Congrats, Jilly, on your awesome news!!! I cannot remember what I read about food allergies in children. I know my nephew has a fairly severe tree nut allergy, and I think my sister craved nuts and macaroons during her pregnancy. You may want to investigate any correlation between the amount of peanuts eaten during pregnancy and a baby's allergies. Just in case it matters.
rho, wow, skinny jeans. That's great!
Kel, good for you for staying on plan in the face of temptation.
As for me, I'm down another 1/2 lb. I'm a slow loser so any downward movement is good. As long as I'm losing, I'm happy.
