I am jumping in here too. I started eating low-carb by my own fashion 4 days ago also. I eat about 50-60g of carbs a day and I still count my calories, which I try to keep around 1200-1300. So, I eat about 50g carbs/50g fat /100g protein.
I've had zero carb cravings from the second I started. Just knowing I can't have certain foods makes things clear to me. And I stay away from the candy and offered cakes and lunch sandwiches with ease. Is that because 50g is not really that low? It feels like it's on the low end of the spectrum. Just above the induction phases in SBD and Atkins. But I don't know? The carbs I get are from cheese, fruit and maybe a cracker or a tortilla wrap a day. Whole wheat ofcourse.
Any tips are welcome! My main issue is I just really don't wanna eat. I eat because I have to now. And when I start preparing something tasty I will get excited, but if I didn't have to eat I'd not bother. Which is totally different from a week ago.
I am happy to say that I lost about 3lbs already, but that's probably just the weight that was gonna come off eventually after calorie counting for weeks. lol.

I keep mine on my kitchen counter where I can see it. When I start looking for a treat, or after dinner when I'm thinking about a sweet dessert, I take just one of those little bites, and it's enough to satisfy me. If it weren't for that, I'd keep looking and find myself in trouble. BTW, Linda also has some terrific recipes on her site, most suitable for induction. Just search for Linda's low carb.

oh that is brilliant - I have been having one like once a week - but occasionally I'd like a bite of something just to be something treat like but not much.. I am so going to do that. I didn't want to put it in a ziplock but I'm getting a new (old vintage) tupperware butter and cheese keeper - I wanted a bigger butter one for my Kerry Gold butter so maybe I will use the other for this
Think I need to look at more than the recipes over on that site - I love her recipes

I've been bad this weekend, I'm not normally this bad. I'm still losing and still in ketosis though. Only half a lb away from hitting my Valentines Day goal.
We're seeing friends tonight and they are making us dinner. I asked what it was and they said chicken fried rice and a veggie on the side. I don't want to be rude since they are going to this trouble for us so I'm going to have a really small portion of the chicken fried rice.
I'm hoping this doesn't derail me too much, or that I get a carb hang over from the cheating.

Good luck tonight and have fun - eat before you go so you can have small portions and be satisfied ...

Arrrg! Now I get why you get upset when the site eats your response and it dissappears rho!
I spent awhile typing everything out just to get one of those stupid database errors. >.<
Yesterday they actually made the rice seperate from the chicken and veggies so I only ate the chicken and veggies. Of course our friends wanted to have drinks with us and he made me a diet coke with rum but I think he poured a ton of lime juice in it. After the double rye and diet on Thursday and on Friday, the wine my MIL brought over on Saturday and last night I think I'm retaining water. I was 191.8 today, I know I didn't gain a pound and a half over night. Or it might be my first post partum TOM as I'm 6 and a half weeks from delivering.
I'm going to eat really well today, hope I drop the water and make goal tomorrow. If not, I did really well this first week. I could have done a lot better though, I'm not going to let life sabatoge me anymore. My husband even commented that we never went out to eat with people that much when I did Atkins before because we lived in a different place.

Isn't is maddening when your post gets eaten lol.
When we go out I try to have a late lunch then have something protein and fatty before we leave along with a big glass of water - it really helps me - I can have a little portion and be happy while trying to keep things as LC as possible in my choices .. And doesn't it seem that I vitations and party's happen in cycles your have a few in a row then nothing for awhile
I've become a big seltzer drinker when I go out it looks like a drink an no one bugs you ....
I'm nervous about weighing tomorrow isn't that funny? I so want to meet the goal and I swear my body fights me on that ..

rho, I'm nervous about weighing too. I've been really good today, my fingers are crossed!
It was a couple that made dinner for my husband and I, but at dinner I explained how I'm eating now. I turned down the cinnamon buns and rice If it was a large group thing, I would have just eaten beforehand, but this was more intimate.

Oh gosh. I only recently started low carb, wasn't sure I was doing really low carb with 50g of carbs a day. But then last night I had a bit of a binge. Must have eaten over 150g of unhealthy carbs. Today I am just dying! My head. My belly. My joints. UHG!
So, I guess I either stick with it or start building up the carbs again to prevent this. Think I'l stick with it, it is effective and it did make my joints feel much better.

I'm thinking of starting my own challenge: the STAY ON PLAN FOR MORE THAN TWO-DAYS-IN-A-ROW challenge!
Seriously--I don't know if it's this time of year (being cold, etc.), but I am craving carbs so bad!! I took a week off, thinking it would help, and, to an extent, it did. But now I can't stick to my plan for more than two days.
I did good yesterday. So far I've done OK today--my trusty chicken gizzards for breakfast. If I can make it through today, tomorrow will be easier.

Oh that sucks - just remember if you can get thru that first week or so it will be better. Take it one day or one meal or even one hour at a time to get thru it - you can do it.

I would stick with it and remember you didn't have those symptoms when you were eating lower carb. And just make sure the carbs you eat are good carbs not junk ones .

I do love the Easter Challenge thread! I like this thread, but I enjoy the "business" of that one! Not as much talking to myself!
I've been OP 4 days. Big whoop? For me it is! Now if I can only make it through the week-end and the holiday. We're taking the kids to Chuck E. Cheese. I may eat one piece of pizza and some chicken wings and pizza toppings.

4 days OP is great when you are struggling ... Getting back into it is hard ... So you are doing great.
Why don't you just go for the toppings and chicken wings at Chuck E. Cheese the pizza itself could wreck your resolve and ease that is coming with being OP. the topping is the best part anyway
