Default Beef jerky as a snack food?

I was wondering...is beef jerky a good idea for a snack food? I like the pemmican stuff, and its 80 cal, 1g fat for 1 oz. (which ends up being just the right amount to nibble at all day while I teach...and its easy to hide and make very small) I am a permanent sub, so i never know my schedule, and on days when "lunch" is at 730 in the morning, i don't eat. some days, i don't get lunch. Its caused problems in the last few months, so I am trying to find something and granola bars just weren't cutting it.

So, I know the sodium is a little high, but if I drank a little more water to compensate, and didn't go overboard, would that be ok?

Thanks so much!

Vanessa

I eat a lot of it but I make it myself. I have a dehydrator and love to make it. It is cheaper that way too. I can also make flavors myself and control the amount of sodium.

However if the sodium doesn't bother you (I have no problem with it) then enjoy......

We also make beef jerky but the other stuff is pretty convenient, like you said. I think it's a high protein, low cal snack and if you can control your portion size and drink the water you'll be all set. It's not a total lunch though so try to add something else to hold you over.
