Default Old Spaghetti Factory Hmmmmmmm?

We eat at OSF regularly as it is very kid friendly. I have several of their items in Fitday. We went last night and I got something that I knew was a bit higher....went home and looked it up and was pleasantly surprised.... and then I noticed that everything on their nutritional guide is lower than it used to be!

Chicken Parmesan used to be 840, now its 580
Spaghetti/Mushroom Sauce used to be 460, now 310

I could see that maybe the portion sizes might be smaller and I am not good at judging that so maybe I would miss that...BUT

The minestrone went from 120 to 45 and that bowl is NOT 1/3 the size it used to be.

This seems hinky to me. I've written them.

That can't be right. It can't be. Their portions are big (not Olive Garden big, but still...) I wonder if they will reply? You must report back!

Oh, OSF, how I love thee.

I was extremely suspicious when dh's Spaghetti Vesuvius was only 360..It looked like more than 360 worth of pasta alone, plus sausage and sauce.

I mean, if a cup of pasta is, what, 200+ cals? Their pasta serving has got to be 360 cals alone!

Maybe they switched to Fiber Gourmet pasta (only 130 calories a serving)? Just kidding, that's probably not very likely. Hopefully they'll respond to your email. I've had okay luck with emailing restaurants in the past--they usually reply but sometimes their answers aren't very helpful.

I notice calorie counts change from time to time on a few of the products I buy (Lean Cuisine recently upped the calories on some of my favorite paninis) but sadly, the calories always get higher; somehow they never get lower.

That does seem suspicious.

Something funny is that I've never been to the Old Spaghetti Factory because uhh I don't like Spaghetti. I guess when I lived near one, the name kind of kept me away

I'm more of a Buca di Beppo kind of girl although I haven't been there in well over a year. And I think Olive Garden is disgusting. Although nothing beats a good authentic italian restaurant, if you can find one.

Last time I went to Buco Di Beppo they had some kind of fabulous dark green side dish with tomatoes and tons of garlic. It was only 6 bucks and WONDERFUL. I ate half and ate the other half over brown rice for lunch the next day.

Yeah Buca really does have some dishes on the healthier side, which I like. Side veggies and what not are really good as well as some of the other dishes.

With the exception of the very occasional sandwich from Panera or Subway, I don't ever eat at chain restaurants, so that puts Buca, Old Spaghetti Factory, and Olive Garden off the table for me. When I go out to eat, I like to support local businesses. We have a few favorite local restaurants but we almost never go out to eat, so I feel guilty that I'm not doing enough to support them.

The entire email response:

"We are currently re-analyzing our nutritional data, sorry for the inconvenience. "

Whatever that means.

I think it means that more people than you noticed and they are getting inundated with email.

Great observation! You weren't mixing up the dinner size with the lunch size, were you?

I didn't know that! I was just looking on diet facts and saw the different sizes. I didn't look at their website or anywhere else.

Well they emailed me back again...I guess that is customer service!

They have now finished re-evaluating and posted new amounts, but they emailed me my own copy.

Yeah

Chicken parm is now 830 again
Marsala is now 970 instead of the 730
Spag/Mushroom is up to 670 which is HIGHER than before
and Vesuvius went from 360 to 720 YIKES

The minestrone which used to be 120 then 45 is at 60 now.
