Question about adding up points??

Last night I cooked two small Gorton's grilled filets for a total of 5 points. Because I was planning on desert, I loaded the rest of my meal with veggies (asperagus, green beans & mushrooms with onions) and had a salad with 0 point salad dressing spray.

Because the veggies were listed as 0 points I put the whole meal down as 5 points. My husband thinks that because I had so many "0 point foods", it probably added at least 2 points to the meal.

So now I am confused :dizzy:. Did my meal come in at 5 points or higher? All the veggies were measured and came in at 0 points and I didn't add anything to them EXCEPT 5 sprays of ICBINB spray which is 0 points.

HELP! I thought I was adding right but now I am wondering.

Whenever someone in my meeting asks at what point 0 point veggies become 1 point, my leader always responds, "None of us got here by eating too many veggies!" Now other 0 point items I'd keep an eye on (like how much of the salad dressing you can have before it's 1 point), but I wouldn't worry about the veggies. If you really want to figure it out though, I'd look up the calories for all your veggies and add it up to calculate your points.

If they're zero point veggies, I just count them as zero points, regardless. This is working for me -- I have consistent losses. It's possible that when I get closer to my goal weight I'll have to count them as something.

I think there's a lot of us on here who stretch our meals this way, and for a lot of us, it works.

You did it right. Measure out the veggies by each kind and figure the points out that way. :D Same as if you had a few chunks of beef, shrimp, and pork. You don't just add the measurements up and call it mystery meat, so why do that with veggies ;).

Thank you all -

I feel much better. I have been very conscious about using filling foods like TONS of veggies to make up the majority of my meals with a "side" of meat (vs the other way round..which is the old me way, lol).

I count them as zero. However, if you aren't losing like you want to, the plan is based on 9 0-point veggie servings a day according to WW Patent. Everything has calories at even eating veggies, we affect our calorie deficit and make it smaller. I don't count any but the starchy vegetables. Other 0-point foods, I count 1 point for every 5 servings. Works for me.

I count them as zero. I really think being that they are vegetables there is so much good in them that they can't hurt you.
