Default Keeping up WW while abroad?

Hey guys, sorry for my lack of posting lately. Things have been so stressful. I gave my two weeks notice on my job, because I didn't want to continually be beat up by an out of control 7 year old. I'm pretty sure I'll be going to Switerland starting in October.

I am so sad to leave my WW meetings! And then I started to think of how different the food in Europe is too the food in the US....lets just say there aren't many 100 cal packs there. Is it even possible to keep on with my weight loss while abroad? Granted I have lived abroad before, but I wasn't a WW member then and didn't really care what I was eating.

Does anyone have any advice or suggestions?

Meagan--I am in the same situation, I just moved to Paris a week ago, and I'm having a really hard time staying with everything. So much bread and cheese and wine, and I haven't even bought any pastries yet, but I'm dieing too. I think that part of the experience of being here is the food, and while I don't want to miss out on stuff, I don't want to use it as an excuse to not lose, or worse, to gain...

paris81 I know exactally what you are saying! I lived on pasta for 7 months in Italy! I'm afraid that once I go back to Europe that I'll be taking in all that Switzerland has to offer and my will power will go out the window! I also love the candy in europe, I was eating a bar a day while in Germany and am sure that once its around again, I'll go crazy. Good luck in Paris! We will have to keep each other on track while abroad!

Don't know if this helps, but when I was in high school we had a foreign exchange student from Switzerland. She was beautiful and svelte. While she was a student at our school in Idaho, she gained about 25 pounds. Maybe that was because she was in a new place and turned to food as comfort, but I am pretty sure it to do with all the gummy candies and pizza she ate while she was here. She told me over and over again that she swore American food was making her fat, that when they just hung around at home in Switzerland, they grazed on fresh sliced fruit and cheese as snacks. Maybe you will find more success abroad!

There are meetings all over the world Also, if you go to the WW site and at the bottom, you can click on other countries WW boards - It can be great fun and you may meet some new friends as well!

All the best to you
