Good Ol' Southern Sweet Tea

  • Now...I haven't made it yet this year b/c I cannot find my pitcher, however, I am typing it from my legible notes. I am a HUGE fan of a good sweet and strong sweet tea! I have had some nasty "sweet tea"...I think that mine is pretty good and comes pretty close to Chick-Fil-A's sweet tea. I hope that you like it!

    Good Ol' Southern Sweet Tea

1.5 to 2 cups Splenda, to taste
    8 to 10 Luzianne Decaf FAMILY-size tea bags (I prefer 10)
    1 gallon pitcher

In a pot, bring 3 quarts of water to a boil. Turn off heat and add tea bags. I let this steep for a LONG time, anywhere from 30 minutes (absolute minimum for me, although it probably doesn't matter) to an hour and a half. When it is ready, remove the tea bags (DO NOT wring them out...this makes it bitter) and add the tea to your serving pitcher (if the tea is room temp, I take out about a cup or so and warm it up in the microwave to dissolve the Splenda easier). Add the desired amount of Splenda and stir well. Add enough ice cubes (or cold water) to equal 1 gallon. Stir again. Enjoy!!
  • Holy crap!!! I live in the South and I used to LOVE me some super sweet Sweet Tea...but I make mine w/ a cup of Splenda now, LOL
