Phase 1 NSA Tangy Barbecue Sauce

  • I made this and had it on chicken last night--love it! I have tried other bbq sauce recipes, and this is my favorite by far. I got this one from RecipeZaar and adjusted to use SB friendly ingredients. Also, the amounts are funky because the original recipe was for 64 servings, and I scaled down to 10.

    7 oz One Carb Ketchup
    7.5 teaspoons yellow mustard
    1/3 cup Splenda
    1/2 cup cider vinegar (I will cut this back slightly the next time I make it--this time around, I didn't know it would be so strong, so I added a bit extra Splenda to try to balance it)
    1/2 teaspoon black pepper
    1/2 teaspoon salt

    Combine all ingredients and simmer for 15 minutes. Store in the refrigerator.
  • I tried this and added a little liquid smoke and worsteschire(sp?) sauce to it. I had it on chicken breast. SOOOOOOO good. This will def. get me through the summer. Thanks Jilly!
