Default Is 67 lbs in 6 months good?

I'm one pound away from kissing the terrible 200s as I call them, goodbye. At the rate I'm going, is it realistic for me to aim to be at my goal weight of 130 by December? Stats: Starting: 267, Current, 200, Goal: 130. That means I would have to keep losing about 10 lbs a month... I'm 20 and my metabolism has improved it seems..I just need to know if im just moving at a turtles pace here LOL

It's awesome! Usually people who lose weight slowly are more successful at keeping it off. Slow and steady wins the race!

67 lbs in 6 months is great!! I had a good losing streak when I started off too.. but be prepared for the weight loss to slow down. It's never linear.. I'm been stuck at the same weight for months now so it can go any which way. Just keep doing what you're doing as long it's healthy and you'll reach goal

Considering 1-2 pounds per week is normal and fantastic, that is tops 8 pounds a months, so far your weight loss is pretty darn fast. What the posters are saying is that the longer it goes on, you really might see it slow down. Maybe youll start losing 8 pounds a month, or even 4. It isnt a race though, theyre correct. Take each loss as a huge step, no matter how small.

You have done fantastic!!

But as the other posters said, it will get a lot harder the less you have to lose. I am 14 pounds away from goal and I am working my tail off

I'll be happy if I lose 1/2 of what you've lost in 6 months. My average is usually 1.25 to 1.75 lbs. per week. And that's while working out like a madwoman. You're doing fantastic. Keep it up!

Usually when you've got a lot of pounds to lose it comes off quickly as you've done in the first 6 months, but it slows down the more you lose. So don't get discouraged if you don't lose another 67 pounds over the next 6 months.

I've been battling with 6 pounds for the last 6 months, and it's because another 6 pounds, I am at my goal weight. My BMI is at normal now, it's always those last few that are the most stubborn. Right now I would be happy with a 1/2 pound loss a week.

Congratulations on your success so far, just keep going.

I don't want you to discourage you at all! But your goal weight by December is not realistic.
If you crunch the numbers by approximating your caloric needs as your weight goes down, and the deficit needed to continually average 10 pounds a month... it will become very difficult to eat so little as to keep a large deficit as your weight continues towards 130.
For example, let's say you weigh 150 pounds in October. Let's also assume that at 150 pounds, you need to eat 1800 calories in order to maintain that weight. Let's also approximate that 1 pound of fat represents 3500 calories.
This means that that 20 pounds X 3,500 calories = a deficit needed of 70,000 calories. 70,000 calories represents 20 pounds (very loosely but for our intents and purposes it's fine). 70,000 calories divided by the 60 days until December yields approximately 1,166 calories. This is NOT the number you need to eat. This is the number you need to NOT eat in order to lose those 20 pounds in 2 months. This mean you would have to eat on the order of 500 calories a day... not realistic and not healthy. The answer is more time.
I know it's hard, but be patient!

So if its not going fast enough, don't be discouraged. As another poster said, this is not a sprint to the finish line. It's a marathon.

Nevertheless, you can still see significant weight loss by December.

And to make up for the slower, steadier progress, lift some weights as you edge towards December. You won't be a 130 pounds, but it will change your physique so much that I bet you won't mind I know from experience. At 150 pounds 5'2", I am not at my goal but since I lift a lot, by body looks so much tighter and fit, and most days, I don't care that I'm not at goal because it looks great. I don't even look overweight.

I had no problem losing 2lbs/week until I hit the upper "normal" range of BMI for me at 169-162lbs. Since then I've only lost about 1lb/week instead of 2lbs. But that's still good progress that I'm happy with.

Basically, its really easy to drop pounds like mad in the beginning, but the closer you get to your perfect weight, the slower you will lose pounds. However, the closer you are to goal weight, the more each pound matters. I used to have to lose 15-20lbs before I would see a difference in my waistline. Now I drop only 5lbs or less and there's an immediate difference!
Paper Towel analogy

P.S. I'm 23 and I think age plays a part in how fast you can lose weight as well. Younger bodies adapt to weight changes faster.

It's amazeballs!

I agree that the closer you get to goal, the slower the pounds drop off. You are doing awesome!
