Default Beer + salad = ONE-derland

Well, it has been brutal. I picked a fight with ONE-derland and had to battle not one but two daily gains this week as well as two daily stalls which pushed me back. But I got a hit in on Saturday, dodged a bullet on Sunday and today was the knock-out blow. I was down 1.6lbs this morning! ONE-derland has been conquered!
I am delighted.

Never before has so much been owed by so few to so many. I could not have done it without all of you guys and the great support you've given me. Mostly you've all made the journey so much fun. And that has been a huge motivation for me! We don't do it because it is hard but because it is easy.

I do have a few special shout-outs: Diana, Sue, Sum, BlueJay, ReillyJ and Elvis (missed) who each gave me an extra boost when I really needed it. And to new friends...SuperHeroTeacher and NorthernChick who got me over the line! Also to Charliee who inspired the title to this thread.

Other than 3FC, beer and salads have helped but the tricks to this whole game for me have been: i) doing what works for me and not needing an established plan: diets don't need a name (or cash)!; ii) learning how my body works; and iii) pushing myself to do new things to spice up my lifestyle. Exercise has changed my life and running is so cool (Diana planted the seed!). I will need these new habits for maintenance one day. But just knowing that my weight goes up one or two days a week regardless of how I eat and exercise is so empowering as is knowing how to lose if I need to.

As a reward, I bought some new glasses (arriving in one week, pics to come later) and I am going to change my hair style.

These are the glasses I have got and I'm thinking I'll take a go at this hair style too! Thanks John H for sending me your pic.

Anyway, the next stop is goal. I am aiming for 170lbs.

This is going to be so easy.

I am off now to get ripped!

Ian, everyone on 3FC is so happy for you! And what a pleasure to start off another week with such a positive and uplifting post. Whenever one of your posts/threads is on the site, it's one of the first that I read because you've had such a great attitude about this journey the whole way. 4/22/15 My current goal is to get into the 160's. First weigh in after setting goal: 176.8
8/02/15 I was able to get back into the 160's.
My new goal is to not bounce back into the 170's and to work my way down to 160.

I started my most recent weight loss journey January 2008.
I lost 1/2 of my starting body weight and entered into maintenance May 2011.
Now the real work begins!

You can fight it, or do what you've got to do to get it done. The choice is yours. ~Dian

Way to go, Ian! I look forward to reading the "Beer & Salad" diet cookbook! Maybe you can suggest pairings between salads. What goes best with a Cobb or a Caesar?

Started out at 405.5 on 7/31/12. Then lost 156 lbs to get down to 249.5 by 7/31/13. In the past year I have put back on over 40 pounds and reached a high of 291.5. But I have recommitted myself and quickly took off ten pounds by 7/31/14. I am now trying to take off the weight I put back on, and then lose the rest of the weight I was originally trying to lose. ---- Starting weight / Low weight / Current Weight / Goal Weight
