Default Ran 5K!!!!

Today, I ran 5k outdoors for the first time EVER! Although I often run about 3-6 miles per workout divided between an elliptical and a treadmill, my ability to actually run outdoors for a long distance has been less than ideal. I suffer from (albeit well-controlled) asthma, and in high school I always dreaded having to run the mile every week in P.E. Lately, however, I've been dabbling in outdoor running. Today, I decided to push myself and I ran a little over 3 miles outdoors with NO STOPPING and NO WALKING!!!!!!! Granted I wasn't exactly speedy gonzales, but I ran the whole time and this is a huge step for me!!!!!! I think back to September when I struggled just to go one mile at 6 mph on the treadmill. Forget whatever the scale says, reaching this goal feels better than any number I've seen

Congrats! I just finished couch-to-5k a couple months ago, so I know exactly how you feel. It feels AMAZING when your body is capable of doing something that it couldn't just a couple months ago.

Only advice would be to run at your own pace. This could be very slow the first time, but if you do too much too quickly, the last mile will be death. I would also say remember why you're running as you're running. You aren't running for anybody but yourself. You're running to make yourself stronger and healthier, and so only your expectatiions matter.
