Newbie losing great! 20lbs and counting!
I just wanted to say hi!
A few months ago, I was a pound away from being "obese" and I decided "NO WAY!" I've been losing now for 12 weeks and am down 20lbs! Less than 10 to go to be in the "normal" range and 15lbs to my goal... no plateaus along the way and once I dialed in my calorie intake based upon my calculated actual average daily calorie burn, I've been able to lose a consistent 1.5-2 lbs per week.
It hasn't always been easy, but the several small meals method of eating along with drinking lots of water (and coffee... it's a vice!) it's been pretty simple. I don't take any weight loss drugs, but I do take a couple supplements that I feel help as well: St. John's Wort (to regulate/improve mood) and Ginseng (to improve energy levels).
I wish you all the best of luck reaching your goals as well!

Keep up the good work! Thats the hardest part about loosing weigh is realizing that you have to work hard to reach your goal and there are unpleasant times along that path. But it sounds as though you are doing really good!

Excellent, keep it up! May I ask what you dialed your weight into? Are you on a specific type plan, or are you just counting calories generically?

Thanks everyone!
Thanks for the support! I've set a goal weight of 155lbs and am (as of this morning) at 166.6lbs, having started at 188.8lbs.
The system that I'm using is not one that I found anywhere, I simply made it up. Essentially, I eat as a "accrue" calories throughout the day toward my daily allowable calories. Since I track my weight and number of calories I consume per day, I am able to know both how many calories I burn per day (I use a 30-day average moving average to remove day-to-day weight fluctuations) and simply dial in a daily calorie consumption approximately 1000 calories below the number that I burn to amount a weekly deficit of 7000 calories or approximately 2lbs of weight loss.
I think the real and rather unaddressed problem with most weight loss programs is that the emphasis of how many calories YOUR body burns is not addressed. However, without this information (and how it falls as you lose significant weight) it is very difficult to dial into the right amount for your body to eat in a given day. That's why I came up with my own program (which I am developing into a new system for weight loss, but since I don't want to be accused of spamming I won't say anything more about it here) to account for what my body ACTUALLY burns AND how this adjusts the more weight I lose. People losing weight often have problems with plateauing weight loss, which I believe is due to the fact that they start and try to finish a diet consuming the same number of calories per day, but it doesn't work this way.
Anyway, that's enough about me! Where do you get the little signature banners with your weight lost so far???
Good luck in your weight losses as well!
Augustine

Finally below 165! 164.8lbs! Its funny that the rate of my losses has stayed the same (actually the rate of weight loss has slightly increased for me), but the closer I get to my goal the slower it seems to go!
Liliann, thanks for the kudos! Good luck to you!

Thanks! 3 more lbs to go as of this morning (although I think I'm going to drop another 10 or so lbs, so I have some room to add on some lean weight with some weight training).
