Mini-Goal: 40 lbs down!

  • Hey everyone,

I'm happy to report I'm 40 lbs down as of today (actually 40.4 lbs!). I'm so happy to finally be able to say that -- I spent so long around 35, I was worried I would never get here.

My original goal was simply 160 (10 lbs overweight). 160 was already lower than I can remember being in the last 6 years (since I started college/grad school), so I thought that was all I could do. Slowly, you all convinced me that yes, having a healthy BMI was possible even for us "fat chicks," so I changed my goal to 150. Well, so many of you have had such amazing results that I've set my goal even further to be 140. From there, who knows? The one thing I do know is that dramatic changes are possible and that is something you all taught me.

    Thank you!

(By the way, it has taken me since January -- don't let me March join date fool you!)
  • Congratulations! I can't wait to be 40 pounds down like you. That's an awesome milestone.
  • Heartfelt congratulations!

And I've been flubbing up and around these last couple of days...but you know what? You're right. This site has been SO INSPIRING, so ENCOURAGING, that I am going to STOP FLUBBING this very second and get back to it (so I can de-flub my body once and for all!)

So, thanks for inspiring me. And 40 pounds is COOOOOL....
  • Wtg!
  • Cool!!!! So great! Congrats!
  • Thanks everyone!

  • Nice work! I was also stuck at 35 for quite awhile... it is a relief to get past it. Keep doing what you are doing; it is working!

    Cheers,

    J
  • That's awesome congrats!!
  • What a milestone! Would love for you to share some of your methods
(and maybe a little madness as well?).
  • Thanks everyone!

In response to your question, I started out pretty aggressively with South Beach Phase I (I stayed in phase I for about 3 months, though I cheated a few time for orange smoothies or chicken quesadillas -- sugars and carbs are generally not allowed). I lost 35 pounds that way. Then came Easter and finals and moving out of my apartment and a lot of personal drama and I basically went off my diet for a month and a half. I ate a wide variety of things, but noticed I was still making some healthy decisions and eating less in general. I only gained about 2 pounds in those six weeks (and it may have just been water weight since it came off so quickly again). I got back on track after graduation mid-May and kind of plateaued when I started WW. WW wasn't working -- I didn't lose anything for 2 weeks and I wasn't even eating most of my flex points, so I moved to calorie counting at the daily plate, which I find really effective. I wish I hadn't paid for 3 months of WW online!
  • Thanks -- you have really done great! Congrats on your graduation as well!
