Default Are you committed?

From 100 Days of Weight Loss, the secret to Being Successful on Any Diet
Committed means do it anyway. You don't usually wait until you feel like going to work. You just go. The same thing is true of visiting your mother or changing dirty diapers. Because you consider these things to be important you do them regardless of how you feel in the moment.

In the same way, you don't have to feel like working on your weight-loss plan to stick with it. To improve your commitment, learn to focus on your actions, not just your feelings. On days you're not in the mood for exercising or eating right, tell yourself to do it anyway.

Each day, take a fews steps that will move your forward, EVEN IF YOU DONT FEEL LIKE IT.

People whe are merely interstest in losing weight:
* take action only when the fell like it
* need to see results to stay motivated
* blame other people for their stuggles
* esaily give up when they face challenges

People who are committed to losing weight:
* stick with their plans no matter what
* tacke action whether they feel like doing it or not
* assume if thesy stay motivated results will follow
* take responsibility for their own actions
* keep going in spite of challenges and setbacks

What is one action you can commit to sticking with today, regardless of how you feel at the moment?

You are welcome. It is a very thought-provoking book.

After reading that section, My commitment is to journal every single bite I eat for the rest of the week. I went up 1 1/2 pounds over the weekend and I don't really know what did it. I thought I was doing fine... But then I recalled that ice cream, and later, oh yeah there were those dried cherries.. And oh, yeah, there was that gin and tonic, too. I just block out stuff sometimes, thinking it was so little it wont matter. I hope getting back to journaling will help.

I don't know if anyone is reading this thread but for the record, I did stay committed to my food diary this week, 100%, even the candy I took from the jar at work. And I am back down today. I really think writing everything down (like they tell us to!) helped. I'm going to stay committed to my food diary through the weekend even though I have two social dinners coming up...

I have been following this thread.........I agree that writing EVERYTHING down that you put in your mouth helps. It makes me think twice about getting into the peanut butter jar or sneaking a bite or 2 or 3 of dark chocolate. If I write it down then I have to account for it, if not it's like it did not happen. I am in my last week of stabilization so I have really been paying attention to my food choices and how they affect me. I have also been tracking my calories just out of curiosity since next week I will be on maintenance and will have to stay within my calorie range.

Thanks for posting this! Very thought provoking.

I don't know why I hadn't thought about weight loss in this way too. I went back to school to get my bachelors about four years ago and I'll be done in December. It hasn't been easy, but I'm just doing it. Perserverance. I don't know why I never made the association with weight loss. Thanks!!

I have really been slacking on my journal and I better keep this in mind if I am committed to losing the weight. Journal every piece of food and I will realize the bad food I am still eating. Thanks
