Tomato Update

  • So this morning at weigh in, I asked about my roasted tomatoes.

The good news is, if you start with whole, fresh, raw tomatoes, you can do whatever you want to them. Cook them however you would like as long as it a recommended cooking method on program.

So I can keep roasting my tomatoes...and so can you!

PS. I am 3 pounds down today! That is 13 pounds and I am just starting my 4th week on program. Woohoo!
  • This is one of the thing that totally frustrates me....different counselors saying different things. We were always told no cooked tomatoes at all -- fresh or not. So who really knows what the deal is. Bottom line ... eating too many tomatoes is not what got us all overweight to begin with. LOL
  • yes, counselors are often so inconsistent! that isn't a good thing! yes, agreed, tomatoes didn't really create our issues, and if you're a losin', then go for it.
  • LOL Deb! Bring on the tomatoes!

Thank you for sharing this information. I too have been perplexed by the whole tomato thing. Here's a question though, don't all tomatoes start out fresh? Therefore, technically you should be able to eat them all. I do make chili with no salt added canned tomatoes about once a week for lunch and it doesn't seem to affect my weight loss, so, I'll keep doing that.

And, I agree with the comments that tomatoes didn't get me in the position I am! If the only thing I that derailed me was tomatoes I'd be 100 pounds by now.
  • They told me that you have to start yourself with raw tomatoes b/c you aren't allowed to eat canned veggies. They have added stuff (whether it is salt or preservatives) that you don't need on program. Because I asked about no salt canned and they said that they had more than just tomatoes in the can. And once canned, they aren't as nutritious, and with the little we eat on program, we need it all to be good for us and add to our nutrition.
  • Hooray!
Hooray for tomatoes! Now if I could only grow them myself in this east Texas heat!
  • Congrats on the weight loss AND on making it to one-der-land!!
