Just wanted to share a few things with you that some of the counselors told me when I hit a plateau for almost 2 months.

First, she seen that I was eating apples daily. She said try to stay away from fruits grown on trees and go with the fruit close to the ground, such as berries.

Second, don't mix proteins in one meal from the 3 sets of list on the menu. Crossing over from the list is a no no. (this goes to show how well they pay attention to my food diary....it was actually caught)

Third, do change from gel to paste toothpaste....imagine that!!!

Do not go 4-5 hours between meals with out a HNS. Something I was doing.

If I think of anything else, I will share it here. My plateau was very frustrating and they were stumped with why I wasn't losing.

Berries, I am going to try. I do use paste and not gel. I am guilty of going 4 to 5 hours without those HNS because I don't like most of them. I saw where you/someone posted about drinking it from the package so I thought I would get some and try that this week. Here is a typical day's meal for me. See if you spot something else I am doing incorrect. I sure need all the help I can get. I am 7 months away from being 60 and sure that might be some of it.
B/ Boiled Egg, Bread (35 calories), and Cheese (Hard) melted on the bread
L/ Talipa (sp) fish, vegetable, and orange or strawberries
D/ Talipa (sp) fish, vegetable and bread (35 calories).
I drink 96 ounces of water a day.

Hi - just started the program - noticed you asked about Benefiber - I got the fiber drink from the program - it has more fiber than the benefiber - so you may have to drink more of the benefiber to get the same benefits - not sure of the calorie comparisons

That is WONDERFUL news! Yea. Perseverence is the key. My average weight loss over time is about 2 pounds/week....and there are some weeks where I plateaued. I'll bet you had a big smile on your face when you saw that drop!

not going to give up--Congratulations on the 6 lb weight loss. That is awesome!

I would have responded sooner but I was one of the lucky ones who could not get into their account this weekend. The sample menu you posted was good. I caution you about the cheese though...it too can slow you down a little bit. I will have to ask about that again but I could have sworn one of the advisors said do that about 3x a week. I will check on that for sure.

Congratulations again, keep it up lady!

You are right about the cheese Harlow. This week at WI, my counselor really went over my food diary and said I was eating way too much cheese, and of course an apple a day, which both were not good more than 2-3 times a week. It's just that cheese is such an easy thing to pack for some of my lunches for work, along with an apple. Today I bought strawberries, which I love, but they are not in season, so they didn't look very ripe, plus the cost was more than I wanted to spend....I better enjoy the heck out of these little berries.

Hey Fifties Lady!!! I hope all is well.

I can't remember if it was you or someone else that mentioned having a grilled cheese sandwich in the morning. Well I tried it this week. It was too good to pass up. I did mine as an open faced sandwich under the broiler and used a mix of mozzarella, monteray and colby jack mix that was too die for! That most definately will be a once in a week thing.

Hey FL, You might want to try frozen berries. They seem to have more flavor this time of year, and you don't have to worry about them spoiling before you eat them all. I like frozen blueberries. I pack 1/2 cup and put in the fridge to thaw the night before, so that in the morning I can just grab them to take to work for lunch.

It was Noahsmama that mention doing the grilled cheese. I did try it a couple of mornings, but since I have to do 3 oz. of cheese, it was way too much cheese for one slice of bread. But it did help take away the boring egg routine that I face every morning.

You know I kind of thought frozen berries might be a no no, but I guess if they are not packed in sugar, then I should be ok. To be honest, I have never had frozen berries. But you would be so right about them not spoiling. Thanks for the tip. This is why I love coming here....I never stop learning. Thanks Roadqueen.

BTW....is anyone else having trouble with this site being so slooooooow????

I eat frozen berries every other day, alternating with an orange or an apple. I LOOOVE the frozen mixed berries. Yum. If you want them sweeter, you can always add some splenda to them, but with the blueberries in there, it's not really an issue. They're plenty sweet.

I don't do cheese with meals...I do have it nearly every day that i have a snack though. Hasn't ever slowed me down, though they do mention it. I am aware of that being something to change if I start to plateau.

Hvnlymzic--what serving portion do you have for the mixed berries 1/2 cup?

FL,

I buy frozen red rasberries and frozen strawberries. I prefer fresh, but, these are really pretty good. I add a packet of splenda to make them sweeter. I alternate apples, oranges, and these berries.

Harlow - Yes, a half cup is the serving of mixed berries I use.

As soon as my strawberries are gone, I will purchase the frozen ones. I suppose you have to be very careful not to purchase ones that have sugar added. Can you recommend what brand you purchase? This is great news, because the fresh strawberries I purchased are barely ripe!!!

I have store brand Strawberries (from Walmart) and mixed berries (from the grocery store) and the ingredients say "strawberries" and "blueberries, raspberries and blackberries"...and thats it. No water, no salt, no sugar, no preservatives. Just the fruit. As long as you don't buy frozen pie filling or something that is a dessert glaze or something it should be just the fruit.

FYI: A store-brand bag of mixed berries is usually around $3 or $4. And I get several servings from that...so its not bad at all compared to the price of fresh.
