Splenda Question

  • OK, question for you experienced MRC ers, does it really hurt if every once in a while you use more than 4 splenda packets? Sometimes I really need things sweeter.
  • I've probably consistently used more than 4 packets daily while on MRC. I've still lost weight. Granted, my weight loss has been slower than the 2-3 lbs per week it was supposed to be, but there were a NUMBER of factors contributing to that, so I wouldn't say that the Splenda caused it at all.
  • i use a gazillion packets of splenda throughout the day...still lost weight...not as fast, but then, i didnt have a whole lot to lose in the first place.....i think youd be ok if you went over....
  • For what it's worth, I thought I'd just throw out my opinion. If you haven't tried Stevia you should. It's the only sweetner from a plant source that it's chemically altered (with chlorine, etc). It's from the Stevia plant. It also contains inulin fiber, which is the kind of fiber your body can absorb and use...not just the kind that "sweeps" out your g.i. tract. Oh, and Stevia is not that Truvia stuff you can readily find (Whole Foods, Sprouts and other health food stores have Stevia). Some people don't like the taste of Stevia but I'm not one that minds it.

I'm all for educating people about Splenda b/c it's often thought that Splenda came from sugar so it must be "good" for us. Go to www.truthaboutsplenda.com to learn more. It really opened my eyes.

Not trying to get on a soapbox or anything (almost all my friends use Splenda) but if you have never been introduced to anything else, how are you gonna know! Hope you have a great day!
  • Sorry---meant to put that it's NOT chemically altered.....poor proofreading on my part!
  • Thanks everyone, shopgirl I have heard of Stevia but never tried it so I will give it a try. I all for being healthier, now if I could just become faithful with working out again

I also use Stevia. I like it as long as you don't use too much. It gets way too sweet and has a licorice taste to it . I have tried the Truvia and liked that as well, but it is been messed around with so I leave it alone..

Yeah, I did it once or twice when I first started using it not realizing it is like a million times sweeter than sugar and I quickly found out about the licorice taste.. Although I do believe they have made an improvement so it doesn't taste like that anymore, but I don't want to find out Believe me it wasn't good..

    Cheers!
