Thank you, it means a lot especially when it was number LVIII (that's roman numerals).

Question

QUOTE=sheldon07;2170360]Boomer1: Today was my Day 1 as well so we are in it together! I have actually been shocked today by the amount of food when I weighed it...8 oz. is a lot of vegetables. I have not been hungry at all and it took me a while to finish all of my dinner!

I am slightly worried about exercise. I have always been very active, running outside or using the elliptical/weights at the gym almost every day. I also have a six-month-old energetic puppy and taking her for a 30+ minute walk every day is a MUST. My consultant suggested that I cut back to just the walking, especially for the first little bit. I have been doing only that for the last week or so but I am scared of losing muscle tone...[/quote]

CONGRATS on your first day! I agree with you on the food, I definatly eat more now than I think I ever did before! The exercise thing, is a touchy one! I see all that the center is advising reference exercise. I can understand to a point! If you are used to a regular routine, I personally would make minor adjustments. Muscle does weigh more than fat does but you do not want to lose your muscle mass! I had a very high intensity exercise requirement when I initially did the program years ago (being in the military) and it did not affect my weight loss! I was avid with weight training as well. I would utilize the eliptical, ride the bike, and weight train alternating days for upper/lower body, working abs daily to exclude weekends. On top of that, I would also walk my dog in the evenings/weekends!

Default Thanks for the welcome

Thanks for all the warm welcomes everyone. Day1 has gone very well for me.

sheldon07- I'm in a similar boat on the exercise too. I have been doing 1/2 hour on the elliptical and 1/2 hour on the recumbent bike 3-5x a week and doing a little weights too. The consultant told me to try and keep it to 3x a week and not do the weights while I'm on program, but not quite sure if I can do it. I've been working out for a couple of months now and I really am quite addicted to it now and know that it will help shape my body. I guess we'll have to see how we do on it.

Exercise is a big issue here. I see their want to limit it due to caloric intake, but.....here is my experience. I am a huge exerciser. I work from home, stay at home mom, in a new town with no friends (sans my online pals here that I think of daily and one in the flesh) I go to the gym to socialize before my workout and do classes. I have always been active. I really didn't have a problem with keeping up 6 cardio day at 1 hour until I added spin in. Spin takes too much energy. The only other problem I have is when I try to do intense weight training right after cardio....don't do it....you will be light headed and land on the ground (believe me, I tried).

So here is my advise....in the beginning, lighten your load a bit by not doing numerous planned workouts. Say don't do 2 cardio classes in a day. I do take a nightly walk with my husband (about 3 miles). I have all along! I also have 2 very active boys that i need to help with football, track, basketball and so on. I would say to do light weights in the beginning and don't do them right after your cardio workout.

Make sure that you have eaten something an hour before working out. Don't have your workout after an HNS, it won't get you thru. Then after your workout do a HNS so that you can have protein for recovery.

Donuts may have some more tips for you, but I think this will work wonderfully for you. I have always pushed their guidelines for working out.

WHOA NELLY!! I can't believe how much I have to catch up on!!! I just wanted to touch base real quick and let you guys know about my wi on Thursday. It was measuring day and I've lost 21 inches in 30 days! She was so startled by it that she called in the manager to double check!! I have to say though, the girl was new and she started off wrong and I had to walk her through how to do it. But after I started to watch her carefully, I really believe that she did it right. I have lost a total of 56.5 inches! Now, I lost 1.5 pounds and it was a total of 2 for the week, which is amazingly frustrating, until you get that nice long ribbon. My BMI is at 26.7. BF% is 36%. I was pretty stoked.

NOW for the bad news...I think I am having the worst TOM of my life. Yesterday was a HORRIBLE day. First, I was cramping so bad that I just wanted to cry. Then i dropped off my van to get checked up on b/c the a/c was going out and then went to the dentist to get a cavity filled, so my face was numb all day. When they checked my van, it turned out that the timing chain needs to be replaced, which is going to cost $4000!!! Like I have that kind of money. AND I don't have a car payment, so I don't want to trade it, and not to mention, I love my van!!! So do my kids, but with my job, I have really racked up the miles on poor Tina. I went to lunch after that news and got a grilled chicken salad, stayed completely op. BUT bit the life out of the inside of my mouth and probably obtained a lot of extra calories from eating the inside of my mouth. Now, please remember through all of this, I am on the worst TOM I've ever had. (at least that i remember) I was so tired and cranky and this whole car thing, well, I was so upset. Met up with my hubby after work and he seemed to have sympathy PMS, as he was just as tired and not feeling well. We went to Target, which is my favorite place ever. Didn't even enjoy it. sad, right? feel bad for me yet? heehee.... Well, we decided to go out to eat and we went for mexican food. Which we have done several times since I have started MRC and I've always resisted the chips and salsa and always ordered chicken fajitas and eaten one tortilla and nothing that is off program. (I sometimes have this ridiculous self restraint...money is really a motivator for me. ) Well, I had no fight left in me. None. I didn't even care. I drank two large margaritas, I ate chips, salsa and cheese dip, ordered a cheese quesadilla, chicken nachos smothered in cheese. I didn't even feel guilty. DID NOT CARE!! That's how bad this TOM is. I did, however, take my fat/carb blocker. Woke up in the middle of the night sick as hell. drunk, dehydrated and nauseated. it was awful. I'm assuming that the fat/carb blocker had something to do with the stomach cramps and unpleasantness of sitting on the throne at 2am, but I can't help but to think that I sent my body into shock and it was yelling at me. I was up and down. my poor hubby didn't get to sleep either b/c of me.

bUT today, I had no problem jumping right back on that horse. As a matter of fact, I think I was glad for it. You know, I haven't done anything like this since I've been op, so I really don't feel too horrible about it. My bloaty tummy has been telling me all day what a dumb move that was, but I'm not going to lie, those margaritas hit the spot!!!

Thanks, I just get bored really easily, I am a very restless soul, lol. The zyrtec helped made me kinda groggy but I expect any allergy med will, my eyes have calmed down so thats a relief.

I'm actually doing this program for the 2nd time. I did it the first time in 2003-2004 and got to my goal weight at the time of 168, but didn't go through with maintenance. Later in 2004, I attempted to quit smoking and gained 40 lbs in the first few months. Subsequent quits over the next few years resulted in getting my weight up to 251.

I've managed to finally quit the cigarettes this year and now that I feel comfortable with my quit, I'm focusing on my weight. I lost some on my own and WI at 238.8 on Monday when I resigned. I went to my nutrition class last night and lost to 235.6 on the pre-conditioning diet. Day 1 has gone well so far and it's exciting to be back on program. Especially when I know that this program really works if you dedicate yourself to doing it correctly. I'm determined to go through maintenance this time (they actually gave me my maintenance time from the first time because I never used it which was really nice). I'm so excited about getting the weight off and being healthy again.

I am really excited about finding this board. It's so much easier to have a group to support you along the way. I'm going to go back and read through some old posts to see what recipes I can get from you guys.
Glad your here. I quit smoking in October, for good this time. This is time 4 for me, how I dearly loved smoking, unfortunatley it was killing me. So a big congrats on that!!! That was the first thing I got rid of too, then I got rid of dr pepper, oh how I dearly loved dr pepper, but they were killing me as well, then sugar and caffeine followed shortly. I have nothing to feed my addictive personality so hoping it will starve lol. Quitting smoking is as tough as ot gets, if you can that then you can do anything.

I keep trying to think of what to say and I type it out and think, no there is something in there that might make her yell at me, lol! Umm, Im just really really sorry. That was one incredibly crappy day. I use to never have bad TOMs, but now the older I get the more pms I have. You just shook things up a bit, may even benefit you since you got right back on. Alka seltzer works great on hangovers, lol.

Well I had a NSV today. I went with a friend of mine to get her nails done. I don't like getting my nails done (totally ruins them and I have good nails) so I went and looked through the clothes while I waited, I decided my jeans were grossly too big (you could totally hide a small briefcase in the butt of my jeans) I looked at the Levis and thought they will not fit, but I took an 18 to the dressing room and they were too big, so I grabbed a 16 misses and they totally fit!! I have a little sharpei puppy above my waist but not too bad! Well then I had to have a new T-shirt to go with the new jeans so I got a mickey mouse one, love mickey, so since I got a new outfit I needed new makeup (been having allergic reaction to my brand, weird) so I grabbed some Almay to try, needed new powder to match the new foundation so got that too, needed new lipstick and bronzing powder since I was buying makeup, thought well hell I might as well change my hair up a bit so I bought a highlight kit. I spent 100 bucks!! BUT, I came home and put on the clothes and put on my new makeup and felt awesome, so you know what that means, yup... priceless.

I will do my hair tomorrow, might take a new pic and post it haven't decided yet. I should have gotten some new undies too, hubby calls me baggy britches!! Pretty stuff gets me psyched, so I am renewed. I had a buffalo burger today, I bought some sugar free whole wheat hamburger buns and only used half of it (55 calories) lots of mustard, tomatoes, lettuce, 1 pickle slice cut in fourths, it was possibly the best juiciest burger I have ever eaten. Guess i rambled enough, off to read. Started a really good book last week, "The Memory Keeper's Daughter" its very good.

Oh yeah, who was talking about the Asian Silk Spritzer dressing??? Was it Angie? Or Gigi? I can't remember but thank you, I bought some because you mentioned how good it was, and it totally is!! Oh it was fantastic, I made a salad with baby spinach, fresh mushrooms, green onion, parmessan cheese and the Asian Silk spritzer, it was soooooo good. I don't like dressing all that much, alot of it tastes too strong for me or has a weird wang, but that one was perfect, tasted almost smokey or something.mmmm delish!

Still here! I have been without a computer all week and it's taken me a while to catch up with ya'll! Thanks for thinking of me I've been plugging right along. I was down a pound on Monday but moved my WI time to the afternoon on Friday and was back up that pound - I'm trying to save some gas, so I'm going to WI in the afternoon after I take my daughter to gymnastics since it's half way to the center. My gas charge card was almost $400 this month!!

Yes, it is actually 5 in the morning. And to think I went to bed at 2! I woke up about an hour ago with that awful "I think I'm getting a UTI" feeling, so drank some vinegar in water chased by two grapefruit Airborne in another glass of water. I'm sitting here waiting for it to pass (hah!). But hey, I finally caught up with the board!

Good to hear your MRI went well, Crystal, and nice to hear Sam is doing well! So many great losses and boards signed - congrats to you all.

On the note of constipation, I'm with the gang that goes with a shot of MOM every so often. The La Tortilla company is helping though!

On the note of cheating, I too have found it a slippery slope. One little cheat leads to another and there I am mindlessly putting stuff in my mouth. I have to keep in mind that food is my addiction and just like any other junkie, "just a little hit" isn't gonna work. I'm currently in the battle to get completely back OP and believe me - I don't recommend it!

3MM: The peach concentrate gags me but I really like the powder

Your cooking expertise amazes me! Let me ask you something. If you make your famous chili, how much do you eat in one serving. I couldn't figure that one out! Thanks!
