3MM~ I'm going to try your chili recipe this weekend. I just went out and brought the ingredients. Can't wait to eat me a bowl of 3MM's chili. I think I will leave out the "happy berries"
I tried the oatmeal and cottage cheese combo. It was just OK. Then I decided to try it with brown sugar splenda. It was way way better tasting to me. It will be a regular for me at breakfast.

I thought about next time I make the chili I might spoon it over a toasted peice of 40 calorie bread and squirt some mustard on top and have a pretend chilidog. Or make some buffalo burgers and make the patties a little smaller so I can add some chili on top, 40 cal bread sprayed with pam and grill the bread in a skillet, add chili and a tiny bit of cheese and mustard for a chili cheese burger. Happy berries might make it too good .

You have the best ideas. Are you sure you aren't a chef? Oh and I meant to ask you how the zyrtec worked out?

I am in this to learn a proper balance in addition to consistency! There are a lot of serious medical issues with most of my immediate family in which I want to attempt to counter act before it is too late. This is from heart problems, diabeties, cancer, high blood pressure and arthritis to name some. In addition to these concerns, I know while serving in the Army, I put a lot of strain physically on my body which will be long term. The extra weight that I am carrying now just adds to many of these concerns.
A lot of the time when I need to eat, I am not even hungry (sometimes it is as if I need to make myself eat in order to get the nutrition that I know my body needs)! I am in this for the long haul and want to maintain a realistic outlook on life! There are going to be temptations out there but I need to learn what works for me. I need to learn to be self disciplined and make good healthy choices and maintain consistency within moderation.
I do apologize for rambling but want to say thank you to all that participate on this site. Each of us are individuals in our own right! We all will have our own views and opinions which will be based off of our own life experiences, and or exposure to circumstance! That is a very valuable thing! That means we all have something to bring to the plate. Where one may be week, the other may be stronger! If we continue to share our strengths and weakness, we can help one another in life! This is a journey that we have all chose! I am thankful for you all and appreciate the willingness to be open! For us to be stronger, we need to be able to identify where our weeknesses are (in which sometimes requires assistance, an outside perspective)! Thank you all for sharing! Have a wonderful weekend! Again sorry my post was so long!

I believe that this is something that I forgot. I had learned right away to listen to my body. Somewhere along the way....I got so involved in doing the program that I forgot to listen to my bodies needs and this began being a diet instead of a lifestyle.
I'm so glad that you are looking to do this for the long haul! We are right here with you.

WOO HOO Jewelie, MSTeacher, Singalong and all of the other great "losers"! I'm so happy for each of you.
Diana ... so happy to see you back -- you will indeed get there, just don't give up!! I've had great success, but the past two months have been very slow for me ... partly my fault, partly frustration over physical issues.
Some of you know, the new people may not. I had both of my hips replaced last summer and while I recovered well initially I've developed problems with a quad muscle and adductor that have decided to stop working. So, in essence, I cannot lift my left leg from a sitting position. I have to drag it into the car after me, etc. I can go up stairs okay, they are in the process of trying to isolate what the issue is. I've been in Physical Therapy for two months now with minimal success. This has been very frustrating for me, as I love to walk and do lots of 5Ks in the spring and summer, and these are out of the question right now. I've been reading your posts about too much exercise and I'm very envious ... and if I could I'd be right there with you. The flip-side of that coin however is that I've still been able to lose over 50# without the exercise. But I KNOW that I need the exercise for my heart health and muscle toning. And also to increase the fat burning (my fat % is too high).
Ieduca8teem -- the loose skin thing is a little bit of an issue for me too ... At the top of my /COLOR] my abdomen I have a little and on the inside of my thighs. Other than strength conditioning I don't think there's a thing to be done with it, and I don't think that I personally would consider another surgery (I've had enough)!
Blueyedangel .... so happy about your MRI result!
Angierue .. yay to you!
Mirihawk ... good luck with the new job -- I hope you love it! Once you settle in and get back in your routine, things will fall back in to place for you!
I know I've forgotten to say some things to people I wanted to say, but I'm not good at the cut and pasting thing! But congratulations to all for your successes and for just hanging in there through the struggles.
Happy Weekend!

I have Relay for Life next weekend. There is ALWAYS so much food (not celery and water either!!!)out there during Relay. I am on my school's relay team, and it is really making me nervous about being around so much food. We stay at the track all night. I am trying to make a plan for myself....because I know everyone else will be having french fries, egg rolls, brownies, cookies, etc, etc. etc.
|
Thank You
As for the Relay....I think the cooler of veggies and cheese are awesome. You could do a ranch dip made with cottage cheese (I love it when I use a 1/2 pack of ranch and 1/2 pack of taco mix - made it at Thanksgiving and all the guys asked for more!)

So, yesterday was my last day at the old job. Very emotional week, but I got a lot of closure with people. Did I mention I'd been there 8 years? Monday is the start of the new job, and I am excited/nervous.
I was off plan most of the week and discovered that eating my old way gives me heartburn and makes me feel yukko. So, back OP today!!
Thanks for being here!

I think I am going to stop the hoodia and see what happens. I think I only have one more left. If I can't stand it I guess I will do what it takes. I am going to try to trick myself and pretend the amount of pills are the same.
I had some primrose oil left. I started taking this instead of flax. Does anyone know if this ok? If not I think I will go buy fish. Does anyone notice a difference with the different oils?
|
I would love to go to stabilization with you!
I'm not sure if I would get fish oil. They said that it is better for men and you will burp up that yucky taste and have bad breathe. You can buy flax seed oil capsules at Vitamin cottage or at Walmart (cheaper at Walmart)
If you need some hoodia to get you by until stabilization - let me know and I can give you some. I quit taking it but have a half bottle left!

If it is powder I use it as a rub. I added some pepper flakes and a couple other herbs and then roasted and it was good.
The concentrate I used as a marinade just the HNS no water. I put it and the tenderloin (I cut into steaks) in a zip loc and put it in the fridge for a couple hours, but I think it could have been good at about 30 min.

New to board
Hi. I'm actually on Day 1 of the program. I'm currently 235 and my initial goal is 170 with MRC but hope to get back to 150 at some point.
I'm actually doing this program for the 2nd time. I did it the first time in 2003-2004 and got to my goal weight at the time of 168, but didn't go through with maintenance. Later in 2004, I attempted to quit smoking and gained 40 lbs in the first few months. Subsequent quits over the next few years resulted in getting my weight up to 251.
I've managed to finally quit the cigarettes this year and now that I feel comfortable with my quit, I'm focusing on my weight. I lost some on my own and WI at 238.8 on Monday when I resigned. I went to my nutrition class last night and lost to 235.6 on the pre-conditioning diet. Day 1 has gone well so far and it's exciting to be back on program. Especially when I know that this program really works if you dedicate yourself to doing it correctly. I'm determined to go through maintenance this time (they actually gave me my maintenance time from the first time because I never used it which was really nice). I'm so excited about getting the weight off and being healthy again.
I am really excited about finding this board. It's so much easier to have a group to support you along the way. I'm going to go back and read through some old posts to see what recipes I can get from you guys.

Woo-hoo. I had some success on the scale finally. I haven't felt hungry in 2 days as I am making adjustments and I am down 4#s since Wednesday night!!!! They offered to do the body comp again, but TOM is still here so I said NO. I wanted to leave on cloud 9, not 5! LOL
Also, I met with the center manager and she was great. I wrote down all of my adjustments and so I was hesitant to give her my food journal, but I did and she asked why I was playing with it. I explained and told her that I have been hungry for way to long to leave it alone. She was so helpful and gave me some suggestions to make changes that would help too. I felt so great leaving there today, I was grinning from ear to ear!
Oh....I nearly forgot....I am .5# from signing the 50# board!
You'll get that 50# board in no time!
