Solid work! I like how your losses are big-small-big-small. Its always fascinating to me how our bodies work during weight loss.
I do the same thing-- officially weigh in once a week, but check every day.

Congrats to both of you! It's exciting to see that other people are losing weight and supporting each other. I'm just starting out...actually I haven't ordered any food yet. Went to the doctor yesterday to confirm it was okay. My mother-in-law who has been successful on MF is on vacation and wants me to sign up through her, so I'll be a few weeks later with officially starting this program. But I'm really working on psyching myself up for it.
Good luck and hope to see y'all around!

Hi, sarabrooke! Welcome to the club!
You're a smart one, to do reconnaissance ahead of starting the diet. You'll learn so much about what to order and how to prep the foods before you have to actually dive right in.
I found the MyMedifast forums to be really active and helpful for that kind of thing.
Also, I'd like to suggest you buy the Beck Diet Solution. Sorry I can't link yet, but its only $10ish on Amazon. Its awesome for preparing you mentally for the work ahead. In fact, the book recommends that you start reading it (a few pages a day) and working through some of the steps (all fairly simple and not too time-consuming) two weeks before you start your diet of choice.
It has really helped me with getting through the inevitable temptations.

Thanks Mairsie! I'll be looking into that!
Even though all my life I've had a "weight" problem that's complicated by PCOS, I have come to the conclusion it's really a mind problem. I've spent the majority of my life giving excuses why I am overweight, why I can't lose the weight, how my weight doesn't define me as a person, etc. But now I'm at the point where I just know I need to get it off and be healthy so I can be there for my daughter as she grows up and grow old with my husband.
Again, thanks for the help!

Thanks for the book recommendation Mairsie. I've been looking for something like that to help with the mental aspect.... I've been having trouble staying OP lately. Apparently seeing any success on the scale makes my brain freak out and want to undo it all to stay in my "safe" overweight zone. Gah.
Welcome Sara, MF is a great plan! It's very easy to learn and follow. Let us know if you have any questions Good luck!

No prob, abluvion! I'm really pretty picky about self-help type books, and honestly feel like this one has helped me, loads more than any of the others I've tried. And I've tried many in my day.
I really like that her point is not about selling her own diet, but helping you understand that weight loss and maintenance is really all about changing your mindset.
You get double thumbs-up for the Sagan quote. <3

Since I've started Medifast, I'm really starting to grasp how mental losing weight is. Maybe it's because MF SEEMS so physically drastic, yet I don't want to gnaw my own arm off. It took me a couple months of thinking about it before I wrapped my brain around it and decided to start. I was astounded the first couple weeks at how few calories I was consuming, while not feeling like I was starving.
I found a great quote here; wish I could remember who said it so I can give them credit.
It's easy watching what I eat; It's hard watching what other people eat"
Good luck to you, sara!

Here's another one -
The world will not run out of pizza/ice cream/beer/mac & cheese while I am on this diet. It will still be there when I'm done with this phase of my life.

I haven't kept track, except mentally, of my loss, but after 5 weeks, I'm down a total of 12. DH, I think, is down 12.5.
I had a bit of a stall most of week 5. In fact, I gained a pound and then suddenly went down 2 for a net loss of 1 and just lost another half pound. It's slow going as I don't have a huge amount to lose, but I'm hoping this means I'll have an easier time maintaining the loss.
We're doing this for 3 more weeks, then transitioning back to regular eating over the next 3-4 weeks. We've both fallen in love with the bars and I bought 2 boxes of each flavor to get us through. I'd sure like to find a comparable bar that costs less, but haven't had much success.
One thing for sure, I'll be glad to never have to have some of the soups again. Although the chicken soups smell really good, I'm not liking the taste (probably lack of salt in those). The tomato seems to be the best--if I add some really spicy salsa. The broccoli soup smells disgusting and is always lumpy, but tastes okay if you can get over the lumps. The crab soup kind of turns my stomach--even if I add salsa or spices like garlic and onion powder. The chili is good, but such a small serving and the beef stew is okay but leaves a strange aftertaste. I've found that most days I have to chew gum after lunch (soup) to kill the taste in my mouth!

DUDE! That's a terrific loss! Way to go!
Yesterday a friend and I rented bikes and cycled 12.5 miles in a little under two hours, just for fun (and exercise)! My butt is sore but it was worth it.
