Are you on Atkins? If so, then you shouldn't because it has corn syrup in it. If you are just cutting back your carbs, then you can just count it up with your carbs. I think it has 2 net carbs per tablespoon (and a lot of calories). I dunno about you, but a tablespoon doesn't go far for me!

I'm starting Atkins tomorrow, for the first time. So, I'll probably be asking a lot of questions.
Thank you for your help!

You've come to a great place for advice, support & encouragement!
Have you read the book? The book is your best friend when it comes to Atkins.
You CAN do this!
All the best to you!!

I second reading the book - if you haven't done so, please go get a copy. It is really very hard to follow Atkins without reading it. It not only gives you the specifics on the diet, but it also tells you *why* - which helps you use that knowledge when cooking and reading labels to know what is available for you. Reading the book in my opinion is the clear line between succeeding and failing on a diet. At minimum, you need to read the info at Atkins or here. (Sorry, I realized that our Atkins page here at 3FC is being updated).

I have been reading as much information as I can find on the internet and I will get one of the books in a day or two. Which one would be the best one to get?

I would vote Atkins Essentials. If you are tight on money, check out a used bookstore. My local one has the Atkins Diet Revolution on sale usually for a dollar. You can get updates on the web.

I found that the Atkins Essentials book didn't list the carb counts well enough for me. The Atkins New Diet Revolution was most helpful in getting me started. JMHO. Anyway, Congratulations on getting started. This program works great when it is followed correctly and I definitely credit it for getting my weight off. Many of here feel very blessed to have chosen Atkins and have had great success with it.

I would tend to agree with Lilybelle....Dr. Atkins New Diet Revolution is pretty thorough in explaining the plan.
In the meantime, basically eat only the foods on the acceptable foods list, drink plenty of water, take your vitamins & get some exercise. Stay away from processed foods (bars, shakes etc.) These foods tend to stall most people.

You CAN do this!!!
All the best to you!!

To start out with, I wouldn't use Miracle Whip. And once you've gotten over the carb withdrawal you'll find you don't mind the taste of Mayo.

I was lucky and everyone of my Atkins books were used, even the one he first wrote in the 1970's. They were all in good shape too. Judy H
