Hi everyone!
well yesterday was the end of a bad week for me. i gained a pound, and have only myself to blame. i was lax on my water, and snacked on things that were "forbidden". oh well, i'm onto a new week, with a new positive attitude. went to the store today, and tomorrow will start all over again. i know i can do it, cause i lost 6 lbs the first week. i just had a little setback.
i cant wait to hear how others did for the week.
Sandy's back ............................. watch out FAT,here i come!!!!

jen,
i had headaches the first couple of days, but i think mine were from less diet coke and too little carbs. they did go away around day 3/4. hang in there- i was taking naps to pass the days when i felt like poopoo.

Thanks Sandy -- I did not have headaches yesterday (day 4). I am feeling a little... unusual... today. I think my body is readjusting. I think it's about to get really, really good.
One pound is not so bad after six in one week!
Jen

Hi Everyone. I should be starting Phase II but thought if I could make it would do one more week on Phase I. Did my lose my 8 lbs, but was disappointed it wasn't the 13, but still I guess 8 is pretty good for two weeks. I think if I concentrate a little more on my water and a little less on pistachios which I really overdid on Easter, but they are so good, maybe I will do better. I am a little afraid to start on Phase II as I might gain--is anyone doing Phase II yet?
Started the Summer goal here in the South Beach Thread and maybe that will help a little also as I have set myself up for 15 lbs by June 21. Hope some of you will join me there.
Caci

Hi all, Started SBD yesterday and made it through a day and a half already! That's pretty good for me! Hopefully this will be the one to stick with.

Hi Caci, I have made a cautious foray into Phase II this weekend. I allowed myself a bowl of sliced strawberries yesterday and today. So far no ill effects. In fact my scale showed a loss this morning.
I also went shopping for new casual tops and discovered that I can now fit into a 1X instead of a 2 or 3X which always were too baggy in the shoulders for me but I needed the width at the bottom. I will have to steam-stretch the bottoms of my new tops a little but at least they fit.

Looks like everyone is doing great so far on this diet. I am going grocery shopping this morning and since you did so well Linda, maybe I will get a few strawberries as I seem to be really missing the fruit, but otherwise no hunger at all, no headaches, and all other body functions doing well--even find the more water I drink, the more I seem to want, but still not up to my 8 glasses a day, but slowly getting there. I joined the e-qroup for South Beach Diet yesterday on yahoo, and got a good recipe for ricotta (sp) cheese and jello. This seems to be a very active goup, but we will see how long it lasts. Hope everyone has a great day, and keep of the good work. Caci

Just to let you know the old thread has been locked. It looks like this subject needs a weekly thread.
Maybe the first person to post on a Monday could start a new dated thread similar to this one?

Hi Guys! I am on day 6, and I'm starting to feel really good. Of course, I am totally burned out on the food, but I just keep telling myself "you can do *anything* for two weeks..."
I am going to add some high fiber cereal, like Kashi, when I reach phase II. I'm really looking forward to weigh-in on Friday. Unfortunately, between now and then I have a cocktail party, lunch with my mom and a birthday party. I'm glad they're all just before my weigh-in so I can be "extra motivated."
Caci -- can you share that recipe?
Also -- does anyone use Atkins or low-carb bars? Or do you have to wait until after phase I (induction on Atkins)? I haven't used them yet, but was considering it if they were kosher, so to speak.

I've never found a low carb bar that I couldn't live without, Bunny, and that goes double for the Atkins bars. I'd have to be extremely desperate to knosh on one of those. I also think that even though they're supposed to be sugar free, some of us (especially me) have metabolisms that react to any sweet taste as if it really was sugar and the old insulin does a high jump in reaction. Then, of course, comes the sudden drop in blood glucose and the old cravings start again. I don't seem to have the same problem with sugar free jello but unfortunately I'm not fond of jello either. Tonight I'm having it with a few strawberries mixed in so that will make it a bit less revolting.
I can't remember exactly when I started SB but I think it's a bit over two weeks. I'm very happy with my 10 lb lost. That's more than I lost in over two months on Atkins. I don't feel deprived and I enjoy my mini-snacks of nuts and/or string cheese. I'm gradually increasing my water and I think I'm up to about 60 or 70 oz a day now. I've never been a water drinker but it's amazing how the more you drink it, the thirstier for it you get. Supposed to help keep our skin young and moist too, gals, so drink up.

Hi Guys. How is everyone doing? Think I am going to beat my carb. cravings if I take it one day at a time. Last night my dh pigged out on the Girl Sout Mint cookies and ice cream. I even dished out the ice cream for him and was very tempted, but knew I would be very sorry if I did, so just ate my jello--thank goodness I had remembered to make some.
Bunny-Blues: Here is the recipe, and I should probably put in the recipe thread, but don't know how to do that, so, here goes:
1 pkg sugar-free jello (any flavor, but one with a lot of flavor seems to work best); 1 cup boiling water; 1 cup of riccota cheese (not full-fat). Stir jello into the 1 cup of boiling water. Put ricotta in blender (I used food processor as I like mine really creamy) and add dissolved jello and blend until frothy-Chill. I really enjoyed it better than the one in the book.
I see one of the recipes in Phase I has avocado--do you think that is really allowed?
Have a great day everyone and remember "A moment on the lips forever on the hips" Caci

Thanks for the recipes and tips, guys! I think I will stay away from Atkins bars, during phase I for sure. Well, one party down, two to go. Last night at the cocktail party I had three glasses of water and some salami and mozzarella. I know salami is not the best -- but I think I did pretty well turning down the full bar and a spread of appetizers that included puff pastries, fresh strawberry shortcake and lots more. I'm looking forward to weighing in tomorrow!

Good for you, Bunny. You see, you CAN resist the goodies. We just have to keep our motivation high.
I made a diet raspberry jello last night and put in some sliced strawberries. Much more appetizing than plain jello.
CACI
It's easy to post a recipe. Just find the Low Carb Recipes section and click on New Post. Use the name of the recipe in the subject line and then type in the recipe in the main body of the post. It's just like posting here.
Thanks for sharing your ricotta recipe. I'm going to give it a try. Sounds like cheesecake, sort of.

Thanks Linda! Well, I made it through my 2nd temptation -- lunch with mom. We went to a Japanes place and I had sashimi (no rice) and some steak. Only one more to go -- the birthday party tonight at Copeland's. Whew!
