Has anyone tried them? Can you recommend any? Would you say the use of the particular system gave you professional results (permanent loss of hair) and was it easy to use?

There's some other threads that talk about it. I think there might be one called hirsuitism i read recently which had a lot of discussion of home lasers.

I haven't tried them. I have had it done in a cosmetic clinic. I would think their equipment is more powerful than can be used in a home situation however, times have probably changed quite a bit since i had it done.

honestly for me it was too tedious to use.
you have to zap each section, i never got it lined up perfectly so there would be patches..Aside from that I had a nice full size 18 leg at the time and it took Forever...the most I could do was lower legs and lower arms and that would take an hour & half.
The hair did grow back slower and less, I just didn't have the patience with it....I couldnt really do the areas I had bought it for, like upper thigh and the back of thigh as i couldnt see well enough to line it up..that and it would take FOREVER to do a large surface area.
I guess it all depends on what areas you want to do. I also couldn't do areas like back of neck, lower back because I needed help so I just returned it.

If you are doing legs and other large areas, then the epilators are a good idea. I use one on my legs. I have the em-joi brand and go for the top of the range one. I'm really happy with the new one i just bought. It has two rotary things so picks up more. Yes it hurts the first time you use it when the hair is more dense but hair doesn't grow back all at once and it weakens with more use so after a little while, the little pricks are not painful at all.

With laser hair removal when you have it done by a professional they give you anaesthetic cream as the laser is very painful especially when you are doing larger areas than say a moustache. Although even there, the upper lip is probably quite sensitive.

There are actually different models of laser hair removal machines made by Silk'n. The Flash&Go is designed for your face and arms since it has a smaller cartridge head. You could use it on your legs but it would take a lot longer to complete. The Sensepil is designed for full body use. I own a Sensepil and I love it, however, I go through cartridges way too quickly and they are expensive. I'm thinking about selling it and buying a Flash&Go along with a life-long cartridge. It might be cheaper than buying a new cartridge every month at $30 a pop for the next two years. I have a lot of embarrassing facial hair and think the small head would work better for that. I haven't even tried tackling my face with the Sensepil but I have been doing my arms and lower legs for around 6 months. I only have about 10% of the hair still growing in those areas. I love not having to shave or worry about hairy legs when I want to wear shorts. The Sensepil is expensive but cheaper than professional lasers. It is totally worth the money to have hair-free arms and legs (and someday face).

Also, I should probably mention that the Sensepil is not too painful. It just feels like a rubber band snapping - stings for a few seconds but then the pain goes away quickly.

I want to use a home hair removal system for the face -- especially the upper lip and the chin area where I have lot of frequent and bothersome hair growth. I checked with someone who had her upperlip done with a professional laser treatment facility and she said she had it done for free but it might cost around $600 for others. Then I checked with a popular brand - the Tria home laser hair removal system and it seemed to cost around $499. I see a saving of $100 and not only that, the home hair removal kit can be used repeatedly -- so to me, it seemed like a saving.

I loved to read you had great success with Sesipil AllyG, but since you have not used it for the facial hair, I'm not certain how good it is with the upper lip area.

Also, I did not know about having to buy a new Cartridge with these systems frequently. That would actually make them very expensive on the long run. Besides, one can make a minor scar on the legs or even the hand, but such a thing is too visible on the face. That makes me feel I should rather go to a professional.

I went to a spa with a groupon coupon and got six treatments for $149 a few years ago. I have some regrowth on my lip and a stray hair or two on my chin that I blame on menopause. If I see that groupon deal again, I will definitely buy it.

If you're doing your face, please go to a professional. I don't trust the in home products as it is, and I definitely don't trust them for your face. If you're concerned about cost, some companies post on group on and offer deals. Or they can arrange a payment plan with you.
