Plus Size Exercise Wear

  • Hi Everyone!

What are you wearing when you work out? Does anyone have recommendations for great plus size exercise wear?

I highly recommend these skirted leggings from Old Navy. Now that I bought a second pair of 3x and two pairs of 2x (after I lose more weight) I'm letting everyone know about these. They're great because I can wear shorter t-shirts and my tummy is still covered.

Has anyone tried the plus size options (up to 2x on select styles) at Athleta.com?
  • These are cuter than I was envisioning, but I'm bottom heavy and I don't thing the skirt part would lay right. I get my yoga pants at both Walmart, and a Canadian store called Mark's Work Warehouse. The ones from Marks are very dressy, can wear them as dress pants and no one will know the difference.

  • Amy, those skirted leggings are cute! But, they have mixed reviews. How's the quality in your opinion?

I actually have ONE outfit that I feel comfortable in the gym, and I toss it in the laundry immediately when I get home! I tried other outfits, but they just make me feel self conscious. I wonder if people there notice that I wear the same thing all the time.
  • I love the leggings. They are comfortable, soft and they wash well. I have a flat behind and a large belly. They fit well and they don't fall down like most pants do on my body.

If you want to give them a try despite negative reviews (could not disagree more), here's what you should do. Old Navy offers free shipping on orders over $50. Order two pairs in different sizes. That will get you beyond the $50 mark. They are an "Everyday Value" and will not qualify for discounts. Try them and see what you think. ON has free return shipping. Return one or both pairs. The return label is included. Just drop it/them in the mail.

  • In the past I had good luck with Just My Size, and you can search Promo Code on Google and often get free or really cheap shipping. Junonia has really good quality items, but you'll pay for the privilege.
