Are shoulder pads completely out of style?

Since I've lost weight I've noticed that my shoulders seem proportionally smaller versus my bust or waist. So now when I wear a XXL top it fits in the waist and bust but the shoulders look droopy and sloppy. Should I put small shoulder pads in my tops until the rest of me slims down? When I'm at a good weight I don't have this issue. I've still got a long way to go but I don't want to look sloppy in the meantime.

IMO, you should wear what works for you and not worry about style. There's nothing fashionable about wearing clothes that are completely wrong for your body shape. If you can rock some shoulder pads, just go ahead and wear them! :D

That's true. Thanks!

Totally agree with Novus! Post a pic with the shoulder pads (only if you are comfortable to do so, of course.) :)

I say wear them if you want!!! And start lifting, you can build you up some shoulder muscles and eventually give up the pads.

Yep... my shoulders have changed a lot just in the last three months or so. No more slipping, sloppy shirts or sweaters.

I'd say if you can't tell you're wearing them, then it's not a style issue. I would avoid pointy 80's ones, but you can probably find some very subtle ones that would just enhance your natural shape without drawing attention to the fact that you were wearing them.

It's more fashionable if your clothes stay on rather than droop and schloop. So if that means wear shoulderpads then so be it. My shoulders are droopy too but my chest is big and wearing shoulder pads makes me look like a football player. But I'd wear them if they helped me look better.

Do whatever makes you most comfortable.

I choose what I like not what is in style.:D

I am hunting for Overalls Cuz I love them Yep They are out of style But they make me remember when I use to wear them and I felt soo comfortable !
Already bought my jean jacket, have a pair of jeans that are flannel lined from Farm and Fleet and Hiking Boots!:)

I haven't actually gone out and purchased any shoulder pads but I'm going to go and look at them this weekend. I'll let you know if I think they might work.

I've got a weight routine designed for me at the gym with extra shoulder work!

Do what you want, as others have said.

In high fashion, shoulder emphasis cycles in and out, but mass merchandise fashion doesn't always reflect this.

There's been a tight armhole, rounded-shoulder look for a while now in most mass-market lines, but that will eventually cycle out again. Watch for that to happen after you start seeing people wear more retro 80s looks. Right now the feeling is very 60s and 70s. Maybe in three more years ...

But that's what THEY'RE wearing. All you need to care about is what YOU'RE wearing. Which ought to be what accentuates the positive about you.

I agree - do what you like, but if you would like to improve the look of your shoulders, consider wearing blazers - they are IN.

That's a good point about fashion cycles safe. Yeah, it won't be long and they well be back in style again.

RVAscreenwriter - I'm going to look for things with a more structured shoulder. Just hoping some things will fit me since I've got smaller shoulders and a big bust.
