Remember too that when you go down a band size you need to go up a cup size to get the same volume. So in terms of the size of the cups 42DD=40E=38F=36FF=34G possibly 36FF and 34G would be good staring point. What is your bust measurement right now?
42. I really didn't think that the 42 DD was accurate to begin with. She had to take into account my hips and waist. It was a corset.

I really really really doubt that your ribcage is 42" around. Take a measuring tape and measure right under your bust. My measurement is 28" and I'm only 25 lbs lighter than you.

So your ribcage is 35 and your over bust is 42?

I'd try a 34/36 E/F 42 is wayyyyy too big of a band for you. Aren't your girls falling out the bottom? I thought I was a 36D for yearrrsss and just recently realized I was a 28H/30G and my whole life has changed .

wow, that breakout bras site is great! I think I have definitely been wearing the wrong bra, maybe my entire life. Problem now I have is that I have no idea where I can find a size G anywhere in town. I never even heard of that size til now.

I had been wearing 38 DD/D I weighed differently when I got married. Like I said, that was more because of my waist and hips that she gave me that wide a band. I couldn't breathe in anything less.

You'll probably have to shop online. I have had amazing luck with Figleaves.com and Ebay .

I can't wear the size I measure. I actually jumped from 32 to 33, recently due to my pole walking and muscle build up. -- I bent the hooks on my 36 bra I had severe bruising after wearing 34 band.

The secret is, try on many, many bras and find the best fit for you.

Everyone has a different shape, there is no one size fits all what comes to bras.

So, I began my hunt for a bra today. With measurements of 30 underbust (as of this morning, lowest ever!) and 35 bust that puts me at a 30DD (!!!).

I tried on at least 10 bras, mainly in sizes 30D and 32C. I must confess I didn't try on a 30DD. The 30D was so ridiculously tiny that a cup size bigger wasn't going to make enough difference. I think 32C might be the size I need. Though I'm going to try on some 32Ds before I make up my mind.

I hid the labels when I took them into the fitting rooms! I was terrified one of the shop assistants was going to come over and ask if I wanted to be fitted as I was obviously delusional thinking my flat chest was a D cup!

I'm a nearly A or an AA but I wear an A with some good padding! When I hit my goal weight my reward is a boob job! I at least want to be a B!

You need to go up a lot higher in your cup size! Please stick with a 30 band, though. Wearing a too big band size actually hides that cups are too small on you. So even though a 32C or D might look ok, it probably isn't actually fitting your breasts as well as if you had the correct band size. So it could very well be that a 30DD is too small, so you have to try a 30E or even 30F.

Then again, it could be the style of the bra too! Some bras run smaller in the cups/band so the more you try on the better.

How did the 30D feel in the band (excluding the cup size)? Could you fit two fingers behind the back but not your whole hand?

Oh, and just ignore the assistants. Any good fitter is NOT going to harass you!! You might also be interested in see the pictures here. Specifically the women who went from a 34D to a 32G. In the 34D she looks significantly smaller than in her correct bra size. That might be what you're experiencing too, especially if the 30D's are really tiny like you said.

Couldn't fit anything behind it! I think it was probably cutting off circulation it was that tight

Thanks for the link to that picture- the difference is amazing!

Do you know of any way to work out cup sizes from the breast measurement (from the armpit side of the boob to the sternum)? I'm looking on bratabase and even though my measurements taken in the normal way would suggest I need a DD it keeps on saying the DD's I'm looking at would be too big in the cup for me. I know bratabase take your breast measurement rather than the whole bust measurement so I thought that must have something to do with it.

I took my ribcage measure 28" and then leaned forward so my breasts were hanging down, and took that measure - 37". I'm wearing a 30G and it's about perfect, I could probably do a 28H now that I'm used to the band being tighter. So my 9" difference is A.B.C.D.DD.DDD.E.F.G.H if I'm counting the letters right . Seems to work out.
