Weight loss and body shape
At risk of asking a stupid question...for those of you who are further along in your weight loss journeys, have you found that your body shape/weight distribution has changed as you've lost the weight?
I definitely don't like the size I am right now, but I DO love my curves- I've always been a curvy girl, and it's not really something I ever want to lose. I guess I'm just scared that I'll get down to my goal weight and be left looking something like a teenage boy.

Definitely not a stupid question! I've been thinking about it this recently, actually. When I first started losing weight, it seems like it was only coming off of some parts of me and not so much from others... but that was only what I saw in the mirror.
The other night, I saw a full body picture of myself from before I lost weight, and it seems like I'm just a smaller-all-over version of what I looked like before. My body has turned from looking like a hourglass-esque blob to more of a pear-shape, which is something I definitely wasn't expecting.. but I haven't really seen an enormous change in my body shape, just its size.
Everyone's different, though. The good thing about losing weight is that it generally happens pretty slowly, so you can get a chance to get used to your 'intermediate' bodies and, if you decide you like your shape before you get to your goal, you can just exercise/eat to maintain that.
Good luck, and congrats on how far you've come so far!

I actually just made a post about this on my blog today, great minds thing alike, right?
Basically the gist of it is that I found that I went from a banana shape to a, well, sort of hourglass shape (both my bust/hips have are 9"+ larger than my waist BUT my bust is significantly larger than my hips). When I was at my high weight I really had fairly similar measurements in terms of bust/waist/height. There's also an interesting blog here about how women tend to be curvier at low weights rather than at higher weights (obviously NOT a rule for everyone, there will always be exceptions!!!).

My shape changed completely. I was very curvy too and I always dressed to embrace my pear-shaped figure. As I began to lose weight I lost from my hips first and therefore changed to an hourglass shape.
Now I'm sort of an inverted pear I guess? I've only lost 4" on my bust overall but many inches on my hips and waist.
I took measurements today, and I'm 40-29-37. Not sure what "shape" I fit into at the moment.

I'm not sure what that shape is called either but that's pretty much mine except you're smaller (my measurements are 44-32-41). Maybe we could call a top heavy hourglass.

Sounds like an hourglass with most of the sand in the top :P
Thanks for the blog links, runningfromfat! Your progress pictures look great, by the way, and you're right--definitely curvier! That gives me hope, haha.

Lol. Right now I guess I'm a bottom heavy hourglass? My measurements from a few weeks ago were 47-36-53. I've got a huge butt but I've also got a pretty sizable chest. I'm hoping I can stay an hourglass. I naturally have always had a small waist. I just need the weight to come off everywhere else.

I always thought I was an hourglass, but after losing 13 lbs I have learned I am definitely a pear. A lot of it all came from the top! ^_^
As far as losing curves, you probably won't. Weight tends to come off mostly proportionally, so you will end up looking like a smaller version of yourself now.
And the ONLY upside to how slow weight loss happens is that you never end up with a situation where you wake up in the morning and have lost all your curves . Rather, if you see a part of you shrinking that you don't want to, perhaps it's time to just switch over to maintenance and declare yourself at goal.

I haven't lost a lot yet but my body has changed quite a bit. I've always been curvy too but at 239lbs (46-45-46!!!) I was more apple shape totally round and carried alot of weight in my middle area.
I know my true shape is hourglass (when I was smaller my measurements were 36-26-36), and since losing 5 inches around my tummy I can see my curves again, and a much more defined waist. My measurements now are (42-39-42)
I think your body will stay the same, your curves will still be there and you'll just be a smaller version of yourself now.
