A little bit emberassing
Hi you all,
I hope you can help me! Google is no friend of mine with popping only commercial stuff at me. Haha.
For the first 26years of my life I'd barely ever sweat. But now that I am excercising so much, my pores just pop open whenever they want to. LOL. It's not that bad really. And my deoderant is okay. But what's driving me nuts is that it seems like my armpits just won't ever be really "odorless". No matter how hard I scrub, shave, take a salt bath or what not. Maybe I am obsessing over it. I don't know!
I wear clean clothes every day, I shower after my gymtrips and running. (ThoughI've missed a few showers right after the gym and would shower later - and it feels like that's when the odor started).
What to do to get your skin squeeky clean? Hihi. Please just home-made advice, as we don't have the same brands over here and I also don't wanna spent lots of money on stuff!
Thanks, hope you can help!

Do you use a deodorant that includes an anti-perspirant? If not, that should help. Do you have anyone else you can ask about your scent? I'm curious if it's something other people can perceive or just something that you have become sensitive to. Good luck!

I second the antiperspirant. If I ever wear only deodorant, I smell within a couple hours, workout or not.
If that's not the case, then you might go see your doctor because it could be a hormonal imbalance or thyroid issue. I would probably try switching to antiperspirant or switching brands first, though. Are you having any other symptoms like hair loss, fatigue, breakouts, etc?

I use mens deoderant/antiperspent it seams to be way more effective than womens brands and also larger volume bottles so it lasts longer
And I bet scrubbing with baking soda wouldn't hurt.

JessLess - nobody i'd be comfortable asking. I'm single at the moment. Hihi. My deodrant has anti-persperant I think. But to be sure I am gonna switch to another one for a while and see what happens.
tkdtara - I feel like I am loosing a bit more hair, but nothing else that you mention. Why are you asking? I was starting to wonder if the hairloss might be because I am eating less carbs - not super lowcarb, but still less than before.
brillmama - yeh, I will do a bakingsodascrub again, haha. It did help for a little bit.

I have a couple brands of antiperspirant that I like, and I switch back and forth between them. It seems like after using one for a while, it just doesn't work as well. Or maybe my nose blocks out the smell of the deodorant, and I smell myself more.
I remember my mom used to buy a bar soap that had baking soda in it - not sure if anyone still makes one. I bet you could mix some into your favorite shower gel.

my son had an issue with sweaty armpits. He was ruining shirts and was wet all the time. We got some stuff called Drysol. Here you had to ask for it behind the counter at the pharmacy. It looks really expensive at $20 for a small bottle. But when he read the directions you only put it on once a week. It totally stopped his sweating and he can still use perfumey stuff the rest of the week.

A lot of major brands here at least are starting to produce "prescription strength" anti-perspirants (or "clinical strength" I think they call them). They are slightly more expensive but they work!
If you are having sweating and hair loss, you should get checked out for thyroid disorders. Those are both symptoms. It could be nothing- but thyroid function tests are fairly routine and so worth it!

Hi,
I too have a question. My wud be daughter in law wants a Elezabeth Arden
perfume, she does not like flowery perfume and I do not like fruity.
Can you suggest some other fragrance also some other brands.
Can I get them in Macy's?

I ask because those are all symptoms of a thyroid issue (or other hormonal imbalances). If these two things are new problems, I would definitely go see your doctor. It's probably nothing, but it's worth checking out just in case. Thyroid issues can also slow weight loss.
Hair loss can come from a diet too low in healthy fats-- are you getting healthy oils or taking fish oil or something to make up for what might be lacking in your diet? Carbs don't have a big effect on hair, but fat does.
I know you said you have different brands, but yes-- you could try anything "clinical strength", etc. I like secret platinum protection (that's not even their prescription strength type), and I sweat at least above average for a girl. When I was a teenager, I used to use my dad's stuff sometimes. It worked a lot better than my women's brand. I've also found that for me, clear gels tend to do a better job than the solids.
