Default Loose wedding ring solutions?

When I was at my highest weight, my engagement and wedding rings wouldn't slip over my fingers. Now, over 100 lbs later, they're getting loose enough that I'm starting to worry about losing them. I know I can wrap tape around them, but are there any other solutions that don't involve resizing the rings? I plan to re-size when I get to my goal weight, but that's far enough away that I know if I size them now, they'll just be loose again in a few months. I'm thrilled to be able to wear them again, so I don't want to put them in the jewelry box!

I know this isn't quite the same as wearing them on your wedding finger, but what about wearing them on a chain around your neck until you can resize? That way you still get to wear them without worrying about losing them.

ETA: It just occurred to me that you may have been doing that at your highest weight and specifically want to wear them on your finger now. Maybe you can get a rubber/plastic insert that goes inside the band of the ring? I've seen them before, but I have no idea where to buy them.

I have no idea what happened to the title of my post. I don't know what a wedding right is

I have noticed the same problem!

I cannot see the 20odd pounds that I have lost anywhere but in my hands. Who knew that I had 2lbs to lose on my hands!

I am constantly scared to lose them, when I do laundry or just even move around! I have moved my rings to my middle finger for the moment because getting them resized right now just seems silly. Who knows what my hands will look like in another 100lbs!

You can get little gold, silver or plastic "ring guards" that slip around the band to make your rings fit more snugly.

Just do a search for ring guards and you'll find something. I think Walmart might carry some! Congrats on your loss!

I got married after I had already lost weight and I was on a plane when my wedding rings fell off but luckily I didn't lose them. I wore tape on them for a while but eventually gave up and bought inexpensive silver rings for fun. I have given up on those though except every once in a while. I should get my rings resized but just haven't had a chance.

I have actually looked into this. Here are some options.

http://www.harrietcarter.com/gift-id...ing-re-sizers/

http://www.ringguardsplus.com/merigumenorw.html

I don't want to have mine permanently altered again as I had it made larger when we bought it. After that the diamonds were loose and I don't want to chance having that happen again.

Even with the above type sizers, I would still consult a jeweler to be sure the ring is handled safely.

One site I found said you can find the rubber/plastic sleeve that slips around the band of the ring at places like Claire's at the mall.

Good luck!

My mom said back in the 60's when a dude and a girl were going steady the guy would give the girl his class ring and it was always too big, so they'd wrap string around the bottom of it to make it smaller and then seal it with nail polish. That might be a cheap alternative.

Take them to a jeweller - they can solder 2 little balls on that will hold the rings in place. Then you can have it actually resized at a later date when you are ready for a permanent fix.

I'm having the same problem. Resizing my ring will be fairly expensive. I couldn't find a ring guard that was comfortable (and the plastic ones just kept popping off).

My solution was to buy an inexpensive band to wear until I was ready for the expense of resizing. Now that band is falling off, and I'm deciding whether to invest in the resizing, or or another substitute wedding ring set.

My mom always told me to wrap a bandaid around the inside of the band. You really can't even see it either.

I have the same problem so I started to wear them on my my right hand. But they are getting too big for that hand now. If they get too loose and it appears that I may loose them I will leave them home until I get to goal.

I'm so glad to read this. I have some rings that my boyfriend gave me (not engagement or wedding rings) that I wear every day and they are falling off my hands. I never realized that I had gained weight there either!

I think I'll buy some ring guards and then definitively resize them later.

I picked up some of those plastic ring guards for a couple of dollars at Walmart last week. Several different sizes came in the pack, and they have stayed on my rings just fine.
