Default How do you wear stretch pants at any size?

I hate stretch pants! Why are they the new trend? They only look good for about ten minutes!

Here's my question though:

Should you buy stretch pants so that they are lose/comfortable freshly washed or so they are lose comfortable after wearing them for an hour? The ones I have on right now are an 18W which technically is too large a size for me as I am very close to being in a regular size 16. When I wore these pants at my heaviest they looked horrible for about 10 minutes and then grew rather comfy as the day went on.

Part of me thinks maybe these stupid pants actually fit me now. And I notice they stretch less than they did when I was heavier. So it makes me wonder....maybe we're supposed to buy them a size up. I mean, are they supposed to hug your butt?

Moral of the story: Don't ever buy stretch pants! LOL!

And you know what else? If you have thunder thighs like I do...they cling and make me look awful! UGH!

Leggings are not for everyone. I lived in leggings as a child and would kill to be able to live in them now. I buy them and wear them around the house with my slippers and oversized hoodie sweatshirts. Unfortunately... its just bootcut jeans out in public

Also- you have to be careful with the elastic... same with gouchos... they kinda ALWAYS fit, so its hard to gauge when your weight is fluctuating.

Oh, I'm not even talking about leggings! LOL! I wouldn't be caught dead in those! I'm talking about every pair of pants at the store these days that are made with a stretch fabric. Ugh!

i buy jeans with stretch fabric so that they are snug on me when they are new/freshly washed, that way they fit later. It is very annoying. I find myself avoiding pants that fit because they're so tight when I first put them on, but I know they'll fit great in like an hour! When I buy pants that fit off the rack they are falling off of me by the end of the day.

Leggings should be snug in the butt. That doesn't mean you have to *show* your butt, though. I wear them under a sweater dress.

i don'tmind jeans with a little stretch because my job sometimes requires me to bend, squat, and move around. with non elastic jeans, i would have to adjust them like pulling fabric in towards my thighs beffore popping a squat.

as for actual stretch pants, i had enough of those in '91. they were uncimfirtaable and not really flattering...it just made us all look frumpy.

Leggings with a sweater dress and stilettos are pretty hot.

Lululemon pants are a legend around here: http://shop.lululemon.com/women_pants/pl/c/560.html

Yes, the sizes are 4-10 but they aren't standard 4-10. I wear a size 4 in lululemon pants and I'm 5 months pregnant. You can pretty much double the size, and they make any girl's butt look great. Girls even wear them to dance/night clubs out here (although I wouldn't recommend that, lol!)

I never had jersey type stretch pants stretch on me; in fact, it's the ones without Lycra that lose their shape, in my experience. It's the regular, woven-type fabrics, with too much Lycra added, that do that to me. I try to find things with just a teeny, weeny bit of Lycra.

I tend to try to find jeans with 2% spandex or stretch added. I find they hold a nice, stiff shape without constricting my breathing after 1 cocktail.
This is the magic number for me - any more stretch and they start to droop.
Try Eddie Bauer. I like their natural fit, I have enormous thighs and they fit well, and don't nip in at the knee, giving me that sausage link look I love so much. <rolls eyes>
