Default Laser hair removal?

I'm thinking about having this done, but don't have a clue where to go. I want to have my upper lip and chin done. If anyone has done this, where did you go, a Dr. or a spa? How much did you spend? Were you happy with the result?

when I lived in Colorado, I went to a specialty place that just did laser hair removal. They were licensed nurses that did it. I can't remember exactly how much I spent but I went for about a year and had multiple locations done (chin, sideburns, upper lip, eyebrows, chest) and I know I spent over $1000 but I'd say less than $2000. You have to go at least 6 times but maybe more if your hair is stubborn, like mine. Overall, I am happy with the result but it is about 6 years later and my chin hair is again starting to get to the point of annoyance. It is still much less than it used to be when I started but the hair will start coming back and it really depends on you, your hormones, etc when that happens.

I went to a place that was in a plastic surgeon's office (but not run by the plastic surgeon, just shared space). It was run by nurses. I can't recall how much it was for upper lip, chin, and neck, but whatever it cost it was totally worth it. I can also go back for touch ups for $50 now, but I haven't had to. It wasn't cheap, but I'm so very glad I did it.

The results are good but you will have to have it done multiple times to see the best results. And no matter what anyone tells you about how pain free it is, there is pain! I used to work for a company who made and sole the Laser and IPL machines so we would try them out all the time and it does hurt ... but I guess no more then waxing ... and the results are better, I say go for it. I would go to a spa to have it done, it is very safe.

As for pain, for me, my sideburns and chin didn't hurt at all. Upper lip stung a bit. My eyebrows (on top of my eyelids) was the worst pain I've ever felt. when they did my eyebrows on top of my eyebrows (versus underneath on the eyelid area), it wasn't bad but stung.

I would make sure the place you choose has a doctor on staff or at least RN's on staff. Here in Colorado it can be done in medi-spas by estheticians who have been trained, and while an MD has to oversee the spa, he/she does not have to be on site.

An inexperienced or careless technician can burn you very badly, so I would definitely do research while choosing a facility.

Also keep in mind that the hair has to be fairly dark for the laser to be effective. I'm a redhead and the laser can't pick up the light pigment in my hair, so it doesn't work on me.

Your best bet is to do a lot of research and try to get recommendations from people!

Good luck.
