Bare Minerals & Oily Skin
I've been looking for a new foundation makeup because I lost my Mary Kay hookup and have gone through almost a dozen different things from the cosmetics department that all feel heavy and sticky. Lots of people have recommended Bare Minerals. I have several friends and family members who use it and it looks great. My only question is oily skin - I have it, they don't. My nose is usually a little shiny by the time I get to the office in the morning. I want to know if the Bare Minerals controls the oil or if it has to be reapplied every hour or so. Anyone with oily skin use the Bare Minerals, or have used it in the past, and have any insight?
Thanks!

With BE foundation you're going to have apply the Mineral Veil powder after and as needed to get rid of the shine and control the oil. The foundation doesn't do it alone.
I'm use BE foundation, but I'm now trying out a product from Clinique that helps to control oiliness in the skin. I have oily skin too. I'm still testing it, but I will report my results soon enough.

I've heard bare minerals is not good for oily skin. The ingredient bismouth oxychloride (sp?) makes people itch, and is what gives off a "glow", which is probably not what you want.
there are other mineral makeup brands out there though. Everyday minerals is a great one which offers free samples (you pay just for shipping, around 3-4$). plus they are very affordable and have many different foundation shades.
Good luck. Finding a new makeup can be so difficult sometimes, especially when you don't
have perfect skin to begin with.

I have super oily skin now that I'm pregnant. I used to be a big Bare Minerals user until I realized that the makeup was making my skin itch...it wasn't necessarily an oily skin thing as it was a humidity thing (I live in Louisiana). I've been using a liquid foundation mixed with a lightweight oil-controlling moisturizer with a little powder to touch up the shine. The oil blotting papers work well also.

I've got crazy oily skin as well. I use the mineral make-up from Everyday Minerals (everydayminerals.com) when I use foundation, and their "Matte" foundation really controls oil well for me. And if I use their "Silk Dust" (it's actually made from silk, it's not just a name! lol) under it, it's even better, I go for hours before getting the least bit oily.
I just realized that wantingtolose mentioned the same company... sorry if it seems like I'm just repeating her.

btw, SBD Sass - which makeup are you trying from Clinique? The Superfit or the Stay True?
I'm interested in trying the SuperFit.

I am a BE user for 5+ years and LOVE it! My skin is oily. I apply a light layer of mineral veil BEFORE & AFTER using the BE foundation. This helps tremendously however, I do "touch up" during the day with mineral veil. It doesn't build up, its very light and translucent so, it doesn't look like you're wearing a ton of make-up

No, I'm not using Clinique makeup. I'm using one of thier pore products...my oily skin comes from my not so small pores. http://www.sephora.com/browse/produc...;20p erfector I blot this on after my blemish treatment and primer. I put it on and then put on my BE foundation...then I touch up with MV all day as needed, but I found that this Clinique product is working for me. Another member here recommended it to me because I was going to buy the pore minimizer pore refining lotion which would have been the wrong one.
Wow that was a lot. Sorry for the confusion.
If I do switch foundations then I'm going to go with Tarte smooth cream foundation...it's not liquidy or heavy. I tried it out at Sephora...

I have really skin oily skin as well and Bare Minerals did NOT work for me. Luckily I didn't spend any money, they applied it for free at the Ulta. It looked like pancake makeup on me, absolutely disgusting. I use Artistry oil control foundation from www.quixtar.com. It's the first makeup I've really like. I never look or feel super oily like I used too. Good coverage too.

OK, I'm confused. Is BE bare essentials (as in minerals?) and everyday minerals something else?
Or is BE not at all bare minerals and I'm totally missing something??
I'd love some make up tips, so I'm all ears (or is it eyes?)

Bare Escentuals is a brand of mineral makeup.
Everyday Minerals is another brand of mineral makeup and so is Sheer Cover, Raw Minerals and there are loads of them, but the most popular one is BE = Bare Escentuals and it's costs more than the other mineral makeups. All brands have a mineral makeup line so those are worth trying as well. But again, BE is the most popular brand when it comes to minerals.

I use Bare Minerals and have combination skin, sometimes oily, sometimes dry, but when you put on the mineral veil over your makeup it keeps you looking great alld ay. No sine, or oily look at all

If you really want the Mary Kay makeup, you can go online and order it. You don't need a rep anymore to get what you need. They have also changed to mineral makeup, but still have the liquid foundations that I like. BTW, I'm just a MK user, not a seller, but just thought I'd let you know. I know how hard it is to find makeups you like that don't cause skin problems. I'm one who's had problems with the mineral stuff (even the MK stuff), but I can still get their good foundation

so, I'd like to try this anti shine stuff too. Is Bare Minerals a whole new brand or is a part of the Bare Escentials line?
Boy, I have to get out more.
edited to add-- I think I get it now. Bare escentails has a foundation and then you put this veil on top of foundation?? And then sun screen too? Or does it have spf
