Pounds between pants sizes?
Roughly how many pounds would you estimate you lose in between pant sizes starting out? I'm 5'2" and pear-shaped and currently wearing a (tight!) 24W in jeans. I've got a pair of 20W jeans in a wash I just absolutely adore, but I can't for the life of me remember how much I weighed when they actually fit me!
I'm guessing that the "distance" between 24W and 20W is probably around 50 or 60lbs, but I'd love to hear from personal experience. Thanks!

I drop a size at about 15 pounds. I am your height and this morning weighed 127 and I wear size 6 or 8 pants now.

Wow! That's sure a lot faster than I was thinking! Haha, I guess that does make sense though!
Thank you both for the input! =D

I've been trying to figure this one out myself! At 5'4" and 245 lbs., I was a size 22 jeans. After I'd lost about 30 lbs. I bought some size 16s. Now I've lost another 30 and those damn 16s still fit just fine! I've got some 14s ready and waiting but I don't know if I'll ever get into them!

I dropped a lot faster than that, too.
When I started I weighed 237 and wore a size 22 or 24 (loose-ish, but not too! )
I'm at 170 now and wear a 12 or 14 depending on who makes them.
Now I'm about 2" taller than you are, but I would suspect that you'd be a 14 or 16 at about the same weight.
However, going from a 12 to a 10 has been a struggle! I suspect that it'll be harder to drop sizes as I get smaller.

I am CERTAIN that sizes run weirder now that I am smaller. I own pants in sizes ranging from SIX to size 12 that all fit. it just doesn't make sense.

Wow, I would have guessed it be the other way around! Though, I honestly don't see myself getting any smaller than a 12 or 14, or I could completely and totally live with that!

Im 5'5 . at 270 i was a loose 24, and at 235 im a loose size 18. i think it really depends on the person, though, how we're shaped, and where we lose the inches...

I'm 6 ft. I was in a tight 22 and lost 1.6# and went to a comfortable 20. Go figure. LOL I'd love to be a 14 again but I don't know if I'll ever see it. I'd probably be satisfied to just have a 1 as the first number in the size.

I think it totally varies by person (and like kisskiss says - how we are shaped).
For me, I notice that anywhere from 10-15lb loss is a size.

Yeah, I could imagine body shape plays a pretty sizable (no pun intended) role in how quickly we drop sizes. I'm a pear, so I can imagine I'll lose the relatively small amount of fat I've got on my stomach before I see any dramatic results in my lower body.
Though, I can still squeeze into those 20Ws (yay for stretch!), they just look painted on. XD

When I was much heavier it took a lot more weight to drop a size. I probably had to drop like 30+ before I went from 26 to 24.
Now it seems about 15-20lbs a size.
I think I'm mostly in 14s... just a few 12's and a few 16's tossed in.

I'm also 5'2' and pear shaped. I carry alot of muscle mass, though, and my optimum weight is 130-135(wore size 8 I think) and everyone thinks I'm 110. Been dropped on my butt by Big Strong Bubbas who wouldn't believe me and tried to pick me up. A few got dropped on their butts too.
Just today at 195-6 I was able to go from my 18P fatties to my 18P tighties without having to unbutton my Jeans when I sit down. I haven't worn my tighties since I was about 205.

Again, as people have said, it all depends on your shape, and the cut of the pants. I started at 274 (and 5'1") and was wearing a tight 22. Now at 254, I'm wearing a loose 22 (my Old Navy and Apostrophe pants are *much* looser than my Lane Bryant 22s - read: falling off) and a tightish 20 (Lane Bryant again, and Bill Blass) I can't wear these jeans all day yet, but I'm getting there! On the same note, I have a pair of size 16 denim capris with a lot of spandex which I can fit in to, no matter what weight I am....as long as I have a shirt long enough to cover my stomach.
I pretty much have an hourglass figure. If an hourglass was covered in fat =P
