I don't reward myself with food anymore (or at least, I try not to).

When I was losing weight, I rewarded myself at 10 lb increments. I VERY deliberately selected NON FOOD rewards: pedicures, new sandals, massages, haircut/color in a fancy salon, new clothes.

I am still in the process of changing my mindset from the idea of "deserving food." I used to be able to rationalize ANYTHING. Hard day at work? Nachos. Promotion? Fancy dinner with appetizers, entrees, dessert and wine. Stress? Ice cream. Sad? Ice cream. Happy? Ice cream. Arbor Day? Ice cream.

In previous diet attempts, I might get to a goal weight and "loosen" up and return to the unhealthy way of eating that made me fat in the first place. Not this time, sustainable, permanent change. I allow more calories a day now that I'm maintaining, but instead of using chocolate croissants to raise caloric intake, I eat more healthy, whole foods.
