That sounds quite excellent to me, Shannon. I'd say don't go anywhere near beating yourself up.
I'm on one cup of coffee a day now. Any more and my insides get all irritated. I have it as my 'elevenses' and it's meant that I've cut out any idea of having a mid-morning snack. I think of what it was like when I was growing up, and how my older relatives are now. They don't have mid-morning snacks. I think I only started having one when I was doing more heavy lifting. Then an apple and cottage cheese seemed to lead to other things after a while.
I did a little poking around at family martial arts studios near us, but I admit to being confused by how the whole thing works. There are "adult" classes, "beginner" classes, and "family" classes, in addition to usually having special classes for little ones ages 3-6. Is this a thing I could do for exercise with my whole family at the same time? Who knows. I took a karate class in college and it was the most fun I've ever had doing PE so I thought it might be a good thing to motivate me to get some exercise in a fun way.
In other news, I made an appointment to get a ganglion cyst on my wrist looked at so I can get it drained or removed. It's making it impossible to do yoga because I can't bend my hand backward. Missed my weight lifting this week because I forgot to bring my gym bag to work, but I went for a 2 mile walk today and have been doing well with food today.
I've been eating in the evening due to being alone and having the extra dog walk with Trixie and all the housework to do. Not DH's fault - he's getting home from work most days around 8:30 p.m. and is too beat to do much.
I have to stop sulking, suck it up, cut out the evening eating for the rest of the week and weekend and get on the scale Monday.
Friday morning at 158.8. What steps am I going to take today to hold onto this weight?
I feel so glad that it's Friday, just like the cliche. Like, at this point, during my working day, I'm not quite walking upright but am instead crawling on my belly like an infantryman toward a safe trench.

Reason: Corrected weight
Excellent work Shannon, Dagmar, Jessica, and all! TGIF!
I am so looking forward to the weekend! Tomorrow will be a high exercise day but also a high eating day so I'll have to be careful. The plan in bikram yoga, then a hike with a friend, followed by lunch with her, then a hike with a different friend, followed by dinner with her! Sunday I may or may not be having lunch with a co-worker so I'll have to really watch what I eat and not freak out (too much) by a big scale spike if it occurs.
saef, I'm wondering which of your weights is correct. Are you in the 140s now, or in the 150s?
Birchie, do you like teas at all? I like a cup in the afternoon. I've been having English Breakfast Tea, but also Darjeeling. The latter is milder, I think.
Hi ladies, I don't know if any of you will remember me, but I sure remember all of you...I can't believe you are all still here. I guess I'm not really a maintainer anymore because I have put on a significant amount of weight over the last several years, but I'm back at it and feeling pretty good. I'm still counting calories, except I've greatly reduced carbs, added more fat and moderate protein. After the initial shock to my sugar filled body, I feel like I can concur the world...lol Just thought I would pop in and say hello!
Good gracious, Lori Bell! How great to see you. Sorry you've put on weight over the past few years - several of us here are in the same boat. Unfortunately, it seems to be a 'thing'. It sounds as though you're on a roll downwards again, though, which is brilliant news. Watch out World!
JayEll, Darjeeling in the afternoon is so civilised and I love it! I also like Earl Grey. Yes, it's a tea household here. I don't drink what much of Britain calls 'builders' tea', that's Indian with milk, but I've drunk herbal tea for years and years. I start the day with a herbal blend called Morning Time - hibiscus, rosehip, apple pomace, cherry fibres, spearmint, lemongrass, blackberry leaves, orange peel. I also drink nettle, cinnamon and rhubarb teas and green tea (the SO makes a pot in the morning). I only drink coffee before noon as it keeps me awake otherwise. Just having the one cup for elevenses now feels very good indeed. I feel that my life is regulated, all is in order and things are going as they should. A great development from a small change.
Birchie I also drink a lot of teas in winter. Mine are mostly"builder's teas" - with milk - but I do like herbal mint tea in the afternoon. It gives my morale a boost, without any caffeine to make me jittery and unable to go to sleep at night. I am a big fan of Earl Grey and also spice tea. Every now and again I have proper spiced tea when we go out for Indian food - yum!
Of course I remember you, Lori Bell. I'm glad to see you again, even if the reasons for it aren't ideal.
I'm working -- not very methodically, I'll admit -- at whittling back my regain of about 25 pounds. (Okay, let's call it 21 -- I'll subtract four pounds because I've been building up muscle. I retained my daily exercise habit, if not my restrictive portion control, and have been working with heavy weights over the past two and half years. This is the most muscle I've ever carried in my upper body in my lifetime.)
Jay, good catch. I'm in the 150s, not 140s. Wishful thinking typo. I fixed that post. This morning I'm at 158.5.
Hey Lori Bell! Good to see you! I'm another regainer, although I seem to be maintaining my current (higher) weight just fine. I'm trying to focus on other health strategies (exercise, proper nutrition) rather than on weight loss because that kind of focus just doesn't work for me anymore. Getting rid of sugar is a good idea!
