I felt the same way with my daughter, Gary.. Thankfully, DD learned how to wake up for her college classes. DS has also learned how to set and wake up to his alarm. But I've always been worried, but at the time they go to college, it's their responsibility. DD started out not being a morning person, so she took classes later in the day, and she's quite responsible now. We'll just wait to see with DS, who doesn't go to college for 2 years, but I think he'll be fine.

There comes a time when we all need to stop saying "I wish" or "I will", and start saying "I am", so we can later say "I did".

I used to have to, or Angie, wake up our nephew when I was raising him, he would not get up to the 2 alarms. When it came time for his senior year I told him I was done with it and so was "Double A" as he called his Aunt Angie...a few late mornings and a few detentions but he learned to get up!

Now the NAVY gets him up!!

DH is almost 50. I still have to wake him up in the a.m. and it takes forever. He generally goes to bed around midnight and claims he "can't" get to sleep any earlier. I'm kinda stuck as he doesn't get a detention for being late - he gets FIRED!

I think the sooner you teach people to be responsible for themselves the easier some parts of life as an adult will be for them.

There's a way to help, but you have to be really consistent about it.

1. Alarm number 1 goes off. If person gets up, all is well. If not... go to 2.
2. Ten minutes later, alarm number 2 goes off. If person gets up now, then all is still well. If not, go to 3.
3. Ten minutes later, you hit them with the Taser.

Guaranteed that after a week, person will be getting up before step 3.

After a shaky (literally) start I totally ROCKED the climbing gym. Who knew? A new sport for me - the girl afraid of heights. I did 5 30 ft. climbs in about an hour. And I belayed a 235 lbs. 6'2" man 6 times (not as sexy as it sounds ).

My cousin and his daughter enjoyed themselves too!
