Happy New Year to everyone!

The path of moderation isn't a straight line down the middle. Highs and lows come naturally in life. The middle path means the path free from extremes, and those extremes aren't in external events, but rather in our reactions to them.

So for me, I want to follow the path free from extremes--neither gung-ho, driven and striving joylessly, nor lying about limp and despondent like a boat with no sail or rudder.

I wish all of you happiness and freedom.

Jay

Maybe we need a new thread after today, as this puts an end to the holidays -- or at least to the ones I think we were using as our goal?

I was down a half-pound on Friday from last Saturday, which did not seem like much. I felt better than that. So I checked last year's journal and saw that I ought to be expecting something in a day or two ... sure enough, this morning, once again, TOM is upon me.

I celebrated the New Year with another four-mile run in moderate weather, which won't last, as we expect an arctic cold front to descend by tomorrow night. I think I ought to do these runs in winter on quiet mornings whenever I can, to celebrate when we have a thaw.
