Jay-- glad you seem to be checking out okay. I'm sure you are itching to go home.
Saef-- so glad you checked in and glad your mom could come and help. You seem to be handling things very well.
I do seem to take a small pharmacy between my thyroid pills, multiple supplements, allergy pills, stool softeners, melatonin, etc. I got myself a pill sorter to keep track of everything.

I'm home, and happy to be here.
All the tests were negative for heart attack. My EKG, blood pressure, and heart rate were all wonderful.
Wish it wasn't going to be so expensive, but I learned something from it. As it turned out, the doc didn't include a prescription for anything.
I cooked a good dinner of chicken breasts and green salad.

I found out, at dinner at a restuarant last night, the DH lives with me "because I don't want to live alone". He feels that, if a man teams up with a woman, he has to give up all of his aspirations and identity and do whatever the woman says. Nice guy.
I too don't want to live alone. I am used to being with DH. I do love him but right now I don't like him much. I used to find him fun to be with, intelligent, and sexy as all get out. All of that is pretty much gone now. There are flashes from the past but they are brief.
I think he and I have to have one of "those" chats today. I think he deliberately set out to ruin the last free weekend I had this summer and I will tell him that.
I'll tell him a lot of things.
Dagmar

So sorry DAGMAR I know how it sucks living with someone that doesn't want to be there....my first wife...all I can say is my life got so incredibly better when she left and I got over it! I have often said if I would have known how much better I would have helped her pack her bags instead of fighting it!
JAY great news. I forgot to mention that last week my sister finished tests on her throat, there was some thought there may be cancer there. Anyway, her voice has been a bit hoarse and feels like it is closed a bit....good news NO CANCER bummer news....here to stay...ACID REFLUX damage
I have happy news ~ Gonna Be A Grandpa....AGAIN!!

Saef y- do you own or rent your apartment? Glad you've been able to salvage a few of your things and that your clothes are coming clean. Will you be returning to this apartment after it's major clean up and remodel, or are you moving?
Jay, so glad it wasn't a heart attack, but still and issue with you esophagus isn't good. I hope you'll be able to treat it with medicine and diet and not have to have surgery.
Since I've been back on for about 2 weeks, I haven't seen a post from Monitor Meg - is she still around or on vacation?
I've made it to my goal weight and now am worried that I might lose more because I'm on a very restricted diet to ease my acid reflux which has been burning the muscles around my voice box. Yesterday, I ate an apple that was too tart and had a sore throat and cracky voice for the rest of the night. Cross another thing off the list of eatables for me. Went to a cocktail party and the only thing I could eat was the appetizer that I brought - hummas and veggies.
Going to another cocktail party so will bring the same thing for that one. Then to a BBQ where the hostess is going to make special food for me. Plain grilled chicken, plain potato, and vegetables. Very diet friendly.
Time for me to put my wet suit on and get out on my Hobie Wave for the Labor Day series of sailing races.

Wonderful news, Jay! Glad you're home and doing well.
Carolyn, we were sort of wondering about Meg just a few weeks ago. I think I do see her post very occasionally, but she has not been here a lot since her grandbaby was born about a year ago (I think about a year? Maybe a little less?). Last we heard she was loving being a grandma and spending a lot of time with her daughter & the little one. How nice your host can accommodate your dietary needs.
Gary, glad your sis is cancer-free, even if she will have to deal with some other throat problems. And congratulations on your daughter's news! How exciting!
Dagmar, sorry, that must have been a tough thing to hear.
Bill, I haven't seen Casablanca but am recognizing the quotes you post. I'm not that out of the loop! I'm actually rather enjoying not having any cable right now but still have netflix, maybe I should start ordering movies from that "top 100" list.
Still overcast, windy, and somewhat rainy here (plenty of excuse in many people's minds to have a tropical storm party! It doesn't take much...). I'm looking forward to a lazy day at home doing a little cooking, walking Emma on the beach again and watching the waves. BF is out surfing again but we'll hang out when he gets back this afternoon. Have a nice Sunday all.

Hugs to you Dagmar. I wish you peace.
Jay-- glad you are home and nothing is seriously wrong.
Carolyn-- I hope your acid reflux settles soon. My dh had severe problems from it but it has mostly abated. He cut down on caffeine, alcohol, spicy foods, etc.
I dragged dh dancing last night. It was so much fun! I hope I can get him to do it again soon. We danced for about 2 hours. It was as much fun to people watch as to dance.

Bill - I'm loving your Casablance quotes. DH and I did go to se it Friday night, and it was nice to see so many younger people there, too.
Saef - I don't think anyone who reads your writing could be offended by the comparison. You were involved in both events so understand the impact of both. And the timing is so close, it has to bring the memories back hard and fast. I'm glad your mom is helping you.
Jay - glad you are home and that it wasn't as serious as it could have been. I have some reflux myself that has gotten worse as I get older - it almost went away for several years with a healthier diet, but had popped up again in the last year.
Dagmar - I'm so sorry, that had to be a terrible thing to hear. I also used to feel I couldn't live alone when married to my first husband, but was so glad when I finally got out. You don't need to stay in a miserable place, you would survive.
Carolyn - apples trigge your reflux? Mine is mostly wheat bread lately.
Megan - I'm glad you aren't getting any weather crazy down there. I wondered. Sounds like you and Emma had a nice walk!
Jessica - you guys have your hands full with dogs! Carter is probably enjoying having someone to play with, but I bet it is hard on his back.
I take every multivitamin and supplement under the sun these days, birth control, colace, allergy pill and nasal spray. I try not to take anything else if I don't have to, though I'm considering adding in the citracel that Jessica recommended.
So I met my squat goal today - 3x5x135. Weighed 134.8 this morning, so officially did more than my body weight. I'm at loose ends now - don't know what to do with my exercise plan now.
Three day weekend, so off work tomorrow. About to go out to dinner with friends, so may not make my overly ambitious 'cook dinner six days this week' goal in Health Month, Jessica!

From what I learned, acid reflux can be associated with esophageal spasm, but esophageal spasm is not necessarily caused by acid reflux.
According to Mayo Clinic, it is not clear what causes esophageal spasm. Factors that increase the risk of its occurrence include anxiety, eating hot or cold food or liquids, or having heartburn or acid reflux. Women have it more commonly than men.
I don't believe I have acid reflux.

Shannon - a list of fruits from the internet said I could eat sweet apples like Macintoshes, but not sour ones like Granny Smith's. When I went to the store, there weren't any Macs so I bought two that were Mac look a likes. But when I bit into one I found it tart. I still ate it to see what would happen and yes it gave me acid reflux. There's so much on my do not eat list. And I'm worried that continued reflux with harm my esophagus as well as my vocal chords permanently. So I'm really monitoring what I eat.
Some one told me that acid reflux is stress related and I've had a lot of stress since turning 50 this year. I had very early bladder cancer that was only caught because I was having trouble with my fibroid tumors. It took 4 months to get the diagnosis and then 2 months to 'cure' it. I go back in December to see if I'm still cancer free.
I won the Labor Day race series, but came in 2nd for the season by only 2 points. If I had won one more race, I would have won it all. So there's next year to shoot for. My racing skills really improved this year. and I'm excited about next year. There's still a lot of sailing for me all the way through to end of October. Wore my wet suit yesterday that usually makes everyone look fat because they are so tight. But people complemented me on how thin I looked.
It's taken all summer, but people are finally noticing I lost 36 pounds now that I've switch to my smaller clothes that are really shapely. I still have a little belly because my 3 fibroid tumors are so big that my gyno says they're the size of a 20 week pregnancy. Mostly they're pushing inward on my organs. So I'm going to have to do something about them after I'm finally on DH's insurance and not just Medicare. That will be in December.
Happy Labor Day.
