I was nearly at the chocolate-face-stuffing point over the weekend. As soon as I saw the scale hit 149 and change, I thought "If I'm going to eat right and work out and STILL gain weight, what's the point?" I really thought about saying "screw it all" and going for a double cheeseburger and fries somewhere. But I'm giving it another shot...I've come too far to "creep" my way back into being overweight!

Thanks, midwife! I've come to the conclusion that whatever is wrong WAS something my BCPs were managing in some way, whether it's low estrogen caused by not enough fat in my diet over a long period (like 2+ years), or PCOS, my thyroid or something else.

My appointment is Thursday morning, but then I leave for a weekend convention. Any blood work that requires fasting will have to wait for Monday, unfortunately, but I'll know something next week!

Oh, and a note...I've HAD two cycles. The first was 132 days after I stopped the pill, and the second was a 43 day cycle. I may be about to have a third...

Mindi, can you go to a new doctor? I hate to be rude but your doctors sound like they're not really up to par. Feeling your thyroid is not a substitute for running a blood test. Laughing at your problems? Not good bedside manner.

The one who felt my thyroid was the OB, who I went to a few times at the first of the year when I wasn't having a period at all. I'm going to my general practitioner here in town on Thursday.

If I get laughed at by HIM, or treated in a way I feel is unprofessional or dismissive, then I'll be finding a new doctor entirely.

Good luck!! I hope you feel cared about (instead of bossed-about!)! We are all in your corner!

An endocrinologist may actually be next...those are really hard to come by around here. But I'm looking, just in case this doesn't pan out...

Well...due to a few complications my appointment is going to have to get pushed back a bit. The doctor now has a funeral to attend at the very time of my appointment tomorrow, and besides, I'm expecting my TOM to start today or tomorrow, which I assume isn't the best time to have my hormones tested.

So we'll see about next week.
