I've honestly found it's a lot like quitting smoking.
I still have days where I get all stressed out and thing "Man, I would really like to smoke a cigarette (eat a bag of chips) right now." I imagine I may occasionally feel that way forever. But it happens less and less frequently and (so far) I've never acted on it. It's a constant choice not to just say "Eff this, I'm smoking a cigarette (or eating a cake)"
However, I've also realized that even if I DO give in some day, that's not failure, I will pick up the next day and not smoke (overeat). I think that's one big key too- to realize that one "slip" doesn't have to mean throwing in the towel.
Is it a non-issue? No, I think it will always require me to make the choice. But so far, it's been pretty easy.
