Unfortunately for my inner delusions, I do believe in set points. However, I also believed they can be reset with time. I actually think I managed to reset mine a few years ago: now if I'm being careless with food, I "only" go back to the 130ish lbs. range instead of the 160ish--which makes quite a difference. Well, to be honest, I didn't try to go all careless for an extended period of several months, so perhaps I could also reset it the other way... but oddly enough, I don't want to.
