Default Losing on maintenance?

I started maintenance about 2 1/2 weeks ago....I was doing 1200 calories a day there at the end and finally hit my goal of 140. It took forever to get rid of the last 5 pound!

The first week on maintenance I went up to 1300 calories, the second week I went up to 1400, and this week I've been doing 1550 calories....and I've lost 3 pounds in the past 10 days or so?? Why would that be? Not complaining I guess, but I'm now 137 - 3 pound past my goal. Just kind of weird that I would now be losing FASTER then I was at 1200 calories. Should I raise them more or just see what happens? I was planning to try to stay around 1500-1600 a day for good.

Stay around 1500-1600 for a bit longer and see how that goes. I'd say, if after about three months you keep getting the downward trend that you don't want, then I'd up it some. Your body just might be playing catch-up a bit more with the scale, I'm not too sure. That's just what I know I would do...

S/C/G: Lost 50 lbs, regained some

Hi again! Actually it's not that unusual for people to raise their calories and then continue to lose, judging from posts on 3FC. I'd say, take things slowly. If you want to raise your calories more, go ahead, but a little bit at a time. And, keep up with your regular exercise/physical activity. Eventually your loss will stop.

I'm in your same boat. This I'd the third week I've seen a new low weight since starting maintenance about four weeks ago. I've decided just to ride it out. My current plan is extremely sustainable for me and allows me plenty of freedom without too much to trigger binges. If I get into the low 130s, which is doubtful at 1600-1900 on weekdays and much more than that on the weekends, I'll reconsider. I've noticed that TOM and where I am in my cycle really effect my weight. I lose crazy amount of weight towards the end of my cycle and then float back up durning TOM through ovulation. Still results in a net loss, but it makes my rate of loss deceiving at times. Although in your case I think it's just the extra cals, it's not uncommon for people to raise their cals and lose a little more weight quickly.

That's what happened to me. I started maintenance at 140 lbs, worked up to around 1800 calories a day. Lost another 10 lbs (but it took quite awhile, nearly 7 months). I am now maintaining around 130 at 1800 calories a day. I think this is what my body wanted.
