KC - look, it's fine. No worries. And certainly no penance required. You're here and it's very good to see you.

My exercise has been pretty abysmal but today I walked 6 miles or so along a canal, over an aqueduct and back along the river. It felt good.

The DB is back at school on Thursday so, despite pressure of work, I'll be back at the gymn.

Kitty, the antique show was in deepest darkest Upstate NY, at a village called Bouckville. (It's near Hamilton, which is home of Colgate U.)

There'll be other runs. You poor thing, Kitty, you weren't contractually obligated to do a 10k just because you wrote it here. (But I know it feels like that -- I feel like that, too, that it's binding & I can only crawl back here in deepest shame if I haven't done what I said I'd do.)

I'm happy you planted in my mind the image of a little four-year-old scrambling up a rock face. You're raising a little mountain goat. Good for him.

Aug. 30: 60 minutes arc trainer, resistance at eight, hill intervals, with a distractingly handsome guy on my left. I watched James Cramer's "Mad Money" on the TV monitor, to show him I am a Serious Person. Really I was longing for something featuring a crazy-eyed New Jersey housewife or a chef who steals another chef's pea puree in a cooking competition. James Cramer gives investment advice like his audience is composed of idiots.

40 minutes Pilates routine, sharing that exercise studio with a striking couple: a tall, thin woman with bobbed black hair & a distinctive hawk nose, and a short, very muscular man with long dreadlocks, wound through with beads & tied back into a pony tail. That hairstyle must have cost him a fortune to create. They made out after exercising together, never mind me on my mat a few feet away from them. They looked like they live in Brooklyn, not in my stuffy Westchester village. I just kept thinking "chin to chest, eyes on abs" while doing my exercises.

KC - I second birch & saef...no shame in planning a 10 k and giving it up for what seems to me important family time. great visual of you & the 4 yr old. There will be more 10 k's tocome, but the 4 yr old will not be 4 yrs all that long.

Birch - DB back to school on thursday? DD will start on friday.

I did do the 1 hr yoga yesterday, 30th of august, and today I did 20 mins treadmill & 45 mins yoga. I am extremely stiff but I can already feeling some increase in flexibility. BTW I use the "random yoga" function on the nintendo DS "lets yoga" game, and I find it excellent. You can type in the time you have availalbe, your yoga level (lowest in my case), and a focus for the session (flexibility in my case) and it will take you through the workout.

I have a work related coaching training tomorrow & thursday, so no wo then.

hope to see you around friday,
happy workouts,
rabbit

August 31
Closed out the month with a slow, easy run
4.75 miles
57 minutes

Included a couple stops: one to buckle in DS, who stayed put for more than a mile even though he wasn't secured and one to check in with DD's piano teacher.

Saef, they should do a reality show about your gym! Pilates wars, Pilates lovin'... Make Pilates Love Not War...
